Stalin\u2019s tour of Germany and the United Kingdom was meant for the expansion of the projects already operating in Tamil Nadu. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Stalin claimed that \u20b97,020\u00a0crore\u00a0in investment would come from Germany. I made it clear earlier that three companies which signed contracts worth \u20b93,201\u00a0crore\u00a0have already been operating around Chennai. Subsequently, Mr. Stalin said agreements entailing \u20b93,819\u00a0crore\u00a0in investment were signed with 23 companies. Again, most of these companies have already been operating in the State. For example,\u00a0Vensys\u00a0Energy has already signed an agreement with a Chennai-based group to make wind turbine equipment at\u00a0Gummidipoondi,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLikewise,\u00a0BASF\u00a0is set to invest \u20b9300\u00a0crore,\u00a0BellaPremier\u00a0Happy Hygiene Care \u20b9300\u00a0crore,\u00a0Herrenknecht\u00a0India \u20b9250\u00a0crore, and\u00a0Witzenmann\u00a0India \u20b9200\u00a0crore. All this is intended for expansion projects. Out of the \u20b97,020\u00a0crore\u00a0in investment said to be coming from Germany, at least \u20b95,319\u00a0crore\u00a0is meant for expansion projects,\u201d Dr.\u00a0Anbumani\u00a0said. <\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cIt was announced that the\u00a0Hinduja\u00a0Group agreed to invest \u20b97,500\u00a0crore\u00a0in the State. The group is operating the\u00a0Ashok\u00a0Leyland vehicle plant in Chennai. The Tamil Nadu government itself has said that this investment is meant for upgrading the electric vehicle ecosystem, including battery storage systems. The group had announced this investment last month itself. In total, out of the \u20b915,516\u00a0crore\u00a0in investment, claimed to have been clinched during Mr. Stalin\u2019s foreign trip, 89%, or \u20b913,815\u00a0crore, is meant for expansion projects. This could have been attracted easily from Tamil Nadu itself.
