Marie McNair praises drop in hospital A&E waits across Scotland<\/a>\n<\/p>\n\n Volunteers are being sought through the “On Your Doorstep” recruitment campaign, organised by West Dunbartonshire Community and Volunteering Service.\n<\/p>\n
\n The campaign highlights various volunteering roles across the area.\n<\/p>\n
\n Thomas Dawson, head of retail at the hospice, said: “Charity shops are vital to funding St Margaret of Scotland Hospice.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Volunteering supports these efforts, helping provide compassionate care to those in greatest need.”\n<\/p>\n
\n In 2022\/2023, charity shops raised \u00a3387 million in profit for parent charities in the UK, with an estimated social value of \u00a375.3 billion.\n<\/p>\n
\n These shops not only generate funds, but also offer work experience, enhance employability, and contribute to mental and physical wellbeing.\n<\/p>\n
\n Councillor William Rooney said: \u201cVolunteering is a brilliant way to connect with others, build confidence, support sustainability\u2014and uncover some truly remarkable donated items.\n<\/p>\n
\n “From unique vintage finds to designer pieces, you never know what treasures you\u2019ll come across.\n<\/p>\n
\n “You might even spot a bargain or two for yourself.”\n<\/p>\n
\n The hospice is also seeking volunteers for roles in gardening, patient support, fundraising, and administration.\n<\/p>\n
