The fact that he is the King and has cancer has, of course, made sure that plans for succession are firmly in place. The King\u2019s eagerness to reconcile with his son, Harry, might even stem from this. And there is, of course, the matter of his funeral, which has to be planned while he\u2019s still alive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">But as the King\u2019s funeral is being planned, he will do something no other monarch has done in over 400 years. Katherine Kent just recently died at age 92. She converted to Catholicism in 1994, becoming the first member of the royal family to do so since King Charles II\u2019s deathbed conversion in 1685.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">He won\u2019t be the only one attending. Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and most members of the royal family will also\u00a0attend the service, which is set to take place on September 16.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This all comes after recent reports that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/articles\/king-charles-just-hinted-officially-153517472.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:King Charles;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">King Charles<\/a>\u2019 cancer is incurable, but manageable. Writer and associate editor of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/royal-family\/2025\/06\/07\/will-king-charles-and-prince-harry-reunite\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Daily Telegraph;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Daily Telegraph<\/a>, Camilla Tominey explained, \u201cThe talk now is that he may die \u2018with\u2019 cancer, but not \u2018of\u2019 cancer following a rigorous treatment program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">But that doesn\u2019t mean he\u2019s doing well. <a href=\"https:\/\/radaronline.com\/p\/king-charles-whisky-pain-relief-cancer-battle\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:RadarOnline;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">RadarOnline<\/a> reported that the King\u2019s health has gotten worse recently. \u201cHe is now shuffling around with a cane \u2013 and hitting the bottle, and in particular whisky, to numb the pain and despair he feels.\u201d The outlet described it as \u201ca sad end for him,\u201d with sources saying \u201chis health has deteriorated significantly in recent months.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Recent reports also indicate the King has his own funeral more or less planned. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/royal-family\/2025\/06\/27\/harry-meghan-sussex-heart-king-charles-funeral-plan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:The Telegraph;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">The Telegraph<\/a> recently reported that the King has set up his funeral to make it so that his estranged son <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/articles\/charles-encroaching-harry-last-source-172233354.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Prince Harry;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Harry<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/articles\/harry-hurt-meghan-using-princess-195050128.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:Meghan Markle;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Meghan Markle<\/a>\u00a0and their two children,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stylecaster.com\/entertainment\/celebrity-news\/1234835273\/archie-lilibet-titles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet<\/a>, are the heart of his funeral plans. Bodes well for that upcoming reconciliation. The outlet reported that Harry is expected to walk side by side with his brother at the forefront of the processions through the streets of London.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A reconciliation with his son would make all of that much easier, and it seems like it\u2019s not just in the cards; it might happen soon. \u201cFrom a positive private family stance, some personal healing between father and son would be good,\u201d British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/prince-williams-absence-king-charles-prince-harrys-peace-summit-could-warning-shot-expert\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Fox News Digital;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Fox News Digital<\/a>. \u201cKing Charles will always love his son, and, in light of the king\u2019s ongoing cancer treatment, it could help tidy up the messy, fractured relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">That\u2019s not all, King Charles could even end up helping his sons reconcile. \u201cKing Charles is living with cancer, which makes his family situation very sad,\u201d Chard pointed out. \u201cI\u2019m sure he is thinking about his mortality and reevaluating his life. He would not want a family feud tarnishing his positive contributions and memory.
