{"id":409337,"date":"2025-09-09T02:41:20","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T02:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/409337\/"},"modified":"2025-09-09T02:41:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T02:41:20","slug":"edinburgh-sports-club-barnton-park-win-padel-scottish-cup-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/409337\/","title":{"rendered":"Edinburgh Sports Club &#038; Barnton Park win Padel Scottish Cup 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Edinburgh Sports Club and Barnton Park LTC are celebrating after being crowned champions at the Padel Scottish Cup Finals 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The capital clubs got their hands on the women\u2019s and men\u2019s trophies respectively following a thrilling day of action at David Lloyd Shawfair.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s event, <strong>Edinburgh Sports Club<\/strong> required a nail-biting 10-point shootout to claim the title after coming from behind to split the four regulation rubbers 2-2 with opponents and holders <strong>West of Scotland Padel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite two-times champions WOS striding out to a 4-1 lead in the shootout, ESC came roaring back to win 10-8 and lift the Scottish Cup for the first time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ESC captain Desni McIntosh said:<\/strong> \u201cWe can\u2019t quite believe it &#8211; we are an older team against the young ones and had never beaten them before, so at long last we did it. It\u2019s all been played in a really nice spirit and it\u2019s been a really great day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s event, <strong>Barnton Park<\/strong> completed a revenge mission in a repeat of last year\u2019s final, sweeping past holders <strong>West of Scotland Padel<\/strong> to lift the Scottish Cup for the second time in three years.<\/p>\n<p>The title was secured after the third rubber with Barnton Park leading 3-0, before WOS pulled one back in the fourth match.<\/p>\n<p>Captain David Holmes and Calum Gordon teamed up to secure victory with a clinical 10-3 tie-break win in the decisive encounter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Holmes said:<\/strong> \u201cIt feels good to take the win this year after a rematch of last year\u2019s final.
