Emergency services are dealing with an ‘ongoing incident’<\/a> after a man ‘fell 30 feet’ into an empty silo at a factory in Speke<\/a>. A large emergency services presence arrived on the scene<\/a> on Woodland Avenue shortly after 7pm this evening (September 8).<\/p>\n Merseyside Police<\/a>, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service are all in attendance following the incident.<\/p>\n Police could be seen on the second floor inside the unit. The condition of the person who has fallen has not been confirmed.<\/p>\n A hazardous response team from MFRS entered the building to entered the building with gas readings indicating normal levels.<\/p>\n A police cordon was put in place and the road was closed and emergency services dealt with the incident.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that emergency services are currently in Speke following a serious industrial incident this evening, Monday 8 September.<\/p>\n “It was reported at around 7.20pm that a man had been involved in an incident at a factory on Woodend Avenue.<\/p>\n “Emergency services remain at the scene and the Health and Safety Executive has also been notified.<\/p>\n “Road closures are currently in place, and we ask motorists to please avoid the area and find an alternative route. Thank you for your patience.”<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service<\/a> told the ECHO<\/a>: “Fire crews have been called to an incident at a factory on Woodend Avenue, Speke, Liverpool this evening.<\/p>\n “Crews were alerted at 7.08pm and on scene at 7.13pm, with two fire engines and the search and rescue team in attendance. Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) are also in attendance.<\/p>\n “Crews arrived to find a casualty had fallen approximately thirty feet into an empty silo.<\/p>\n “The search and rescue team will establish a rope system to lower a member of the NWAS Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), wearing breathing apparatus, through an access hatch to access the casualty and establish their condition.<\/p>\n “Gas readings have been taken and indicate normal levels. Merseyside Police are managing an outer cordon at the premises.
