{"id":409350,"date":"2025-09-09T02:48:18","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T02:48:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/409350\/"},"modified":"2025-09-09T02:48:18","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T02:48:18","slug":"glasgow-mum-who-vanished-from-greek-beach-died-by-drowning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/409350\/","title":{"rendered":"Glasgow mum who vanished from Greek beach &#8216;died by drowning&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A Glasgow mum, who vanished from a beach in Greece over a month ago, died by drowning, according to reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Michele Ann Joy Bourda had been swimming with her husband at Ofrynio beach in the city of Kavala at around noon on Friday, August 1.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Bourda then reportedly vanished while her husband, who is of Greek origin, was sleeping on a sunbed.<\/p>\n<p>The Hellenic coastguard\u00a0said the port authority received reports that the 59-year-old was missing the same evening.<\/p>\n<p>A major search was launched involving two patrol boats, two private high-speed boats, five fishing boats, three private lifeboats and two patrol vehicles from land.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Kavala Port Authority said a sailing vessel had located a body on the rocky islet of Fidonisi, Nea Iraklitsa in Paggaio.<\/p>\n<p>Two coastguard patrol boats (PLS) rushed to the scene, while a private diving team was also informed.<\/p>\n<p>The body was transported by the coastguard boats and then on to the port of Kavala.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Bourda\u2019s body was identified by a relative on September 5.
