An attempted murder investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed with a machete in front of horrified shoppers in Bolton<\/a> on Saturday (April 5).<\/p>\n Police and paramedics raced to the shop on Kentmere Road in Breightmet at around 7.50pm to reports that a man had been stabbed. He suffered a number of injuries to his head and shoulder and was rushed to hospital from the scene.<\/p>\n A suspect, a man in his 30s, was arrested by firearms officers on Sunday (April 6) on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody to be questioned.<\/p>\n Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group <\/strong>HERE<\/a><\/p>\n Officers were called to reports of a ‘man holding a machete’ which was then used to attack the victim, police said. The attacker also caused ‘extensive damage’ to the shop and fled the scene.<\/p>\n It is believed the two men knew each other and that the attack was targeted. CCTV captured the suspect ‘swinging the large machete’ around during the incident.<\/p>\n Detective Inspector Lee Shaw, the SIO from Wigan<\/a> CID, said: \u201cThe incident was witnessed by people in the shop, including children who must have been extremely frightened.<\/p>\n \u201cThe incident has been captured on CCTV, which shows the suspect swinging a large machete with blatant disregard of various members of the public close to him.<\/p>\n \u201cWe believe this was a targeted attack and the two men knew each other, and we have acted swiftly to ensure a dangerous individual is in custody.<\/p>\n \u201cEven though we have someone in custody, this is still an active investigation, and we are appealing for any information or eye witness accounts of the incident quoting log 2976-050425.
