A Heathrow spokesperson said the check-in area at Terminal 4 was closed. <\/p>\n
Hours after a section of a terminal at London’s Heathrow Airport was evacuated and temporarily closed due to a \u201cpossible hazardous materials incident\u201d, the airport said that its Terminal 4 “was safe to reopen”.<\/p>\n

“Emergency services have confirmed Terminal 4 is safe to reopen and we are doing everything we can to ensure all flights to depart as planned today,” the operator of UK’s main international airport wrote on social media.<\/p>\n
“We are very sorry for the disruption caused, the safety and security of our passengers and colleagues is our number one priority,” the airport added.<\/p>\n
The London Fire Brigade announced it was withdrawing its operations roughly three hours after being alerted to a “possible hazardous materials incident” at the terminal of one of the world’s busiest airports, according to AFP.<\/p>\n
“Around 20 people have been assessed on scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service,” the fire brigade said, adding the cause of the incident “remains under investigation”.<\/p>\n
Initially, Heathrow Airport said in a post on social media that check-in at Terminal 4 was closed and evacuated as emergency services responded to an incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cTerminal 4 check-in has been closed and evacuated while emergency services respond to an incident. Please do not travel to Terminal 4, colleagues are supporting passengers on site,\u201d the airport said in a post on X.<\/p>\n
