Robert \u201cBob\u201d McIntosh, the Hall of Fame trainer and three-time winner of the Jugette, will be honored as the 2025 Joseph Neville Memorial Award recipient by the Little Brown Jug and the Delaware County Fair.<\/p>\n
McIntosh, who was born in Wheatley, Ontario, first began in the sport of harness racing helping his father Jack run the family stable. He later worked for his older brother, Doug, before establishing his own stable.<\/p>\n
His trainees won more than 4,600 races and earned more than $92 million in purses\u00a0\u2013 the leading money-winner among Canadian trainers and currently fourth all-time in North America.<\/p>\n
He was named the O\u2019Brien Award winner as Canada\u2019s Trainer of the Year seven times, the U.S. Trainer of the Year twice, and campaigned three horses that were voted \u2018Horse of the Year.\u2019<\/p>\n
At Delaware, McIntosh is credited with 20 training wins from 1992 through 2023. He won three Jugette titles (So Fresh \u2013 1992; Electric Slide \u2013 1994; L A Delight \u2013 2016), three straight Senior Jug crowns (Artsplace \u2013 1992; Ruff Hewn \u2013 1993 & 1994), two Buckette\u2019s (Vulcanize \u2013 2007; Windsong Soprano \u2013 2009), two Standardbreds (Princess Callie \u2013 2002; On Golden Ponder \u2013 2013) and a Winbak Pace (Ponder \u2013 2006).<\/p>\n
McIntosh was inducted into the U.S. Harness Racing Hall of Fame in Goshen, NY, in 2003 and the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2010.<\/p>\n
Bob McIntosh passed away on July 28, 2024 at the age of 71.<\/p>\n
