\n Young people clashed with police between Halloween and Guy Fawkes night, with a number of arrests made.\n<\/p>\n
\n There will now be restrictions in\u00a0Niddrie, Balerno, Calton Hill and Seafield as there were last year, as well as\u00a0Corstorphine, Moredun, Gracemount, Longstone and Sighthill.\n<\/p>\n
\n Read More:<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n \n During the period covered, it will be a criminal offence to set off a firework in any of those areas, or to throw one into them, unless part of an officially licensed display.\n<\/p>\n \n However, the restrictions do not cover all of the areas in question.\n<\/p>\n \n On\u00a0Hay Avenue in Niddrie, where fireworks were thrown at riot police tow years ago, one side of the road is covered and one is not.\n<\/p>\n \n Captain’s Road in Gracemount and Calder Road in Sighthill are also split in half by the restrictions.\n<\/p>\n \n Jane Meagher, leader of City of Edinburgh Council<\/a>, told BBC Scotland<\/a>: “The control zones are in a sense arbitrary.\n<\/p>\n \n “But I am confident the exact arrangements that we had last year will bring about the same consequences this year, which is a safer experience for everybody.\n<\/p>\n \n “This year if we find there are problems in relation to the zones then we definitely would consider changing them.”\n<\/p>\n \n This year the Glasgow areas of Govanhill, Pollokshields and Broomhouse will also be covered by firework restrictions\u00a0from 1 to 10 November.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Young people clashed with police between Halloween and Guy Fawkes night, with a number of arrests made.
