{"id":409827,"date":"2025-09-09T07:15:15","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T07:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/409827\/"},"modified":"2025-09-09T07:15:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T07:15:15","slug":"kind-burley-st-matthias-continues-to-be-a-good-school-ofsted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/409827\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Kind&#8217; Burley St Matthias continues to be a &#8216;good&#8217; school &#8211; Ofsted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong>By John Baron<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A West Leeds primary school \u2018with a sense of kindness\u2019 has been praised by Ofsted inspectors during a recent visit.<\/p>\n<p>Burley St Matthias Church of England Primary School has been rated \u2018good\u2019 for its quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and its early years provision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA sense of kindness permeates through this school,\u201d the report noted, praising \u2018warm and caring\u2019 relationships between staff and pupils\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>It added: \u201cA high number of pupils join the school at different points during the school year. Many of these pupils are new to the country. Pupils are welcomed by staff who know them, their families and their individual needs well. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsequently, pupils enjoy coming to school. Pupils greet visitors and staff members with excitement. They are proud to show off their achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The school has high expectations for all pupils.<\/p>\n<p>The report added: \u201cSince the last inspection, the school has experienced many changes to staffing, including leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt recognises that many pupils previously have not achieved as well as they could have. Improvements to the curriculum are ensuring that current pupils know more and remember more. Leaders are tenacious in their vision to improve the school further.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report says the school has made changes to the curriculum to ensure that most subjects are ambitious and well considered. Teachers present knowledge clearly to pupils.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also praise for improving attendance, early years provision and the focus on reading. Safeguarding is effective.<\/p>\n<p>The report notes in some subjects, the implementation of the curriculum is not as effective as the school intends.
