{"id":410042,"date":"2025-09-09T09:08:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T09:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/410042\/"},"modified":"2025-09-09T09:08:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T09:08:10","slug":"demonstrators-celebrate-across-france-after-bayrou-government-falls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/410042\/","title":{"rendered":"Demonstrators celebrate across France after Bayrou government falls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ISTANBUL <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Demonstrators took to the streets across France on Monday evening to celebrate the fall of Prime Minister Francois Bayrou\u2019s government, while far-right leader Marine Le Pen declared that only new elections could end the political stalemate.<\/p>\n<p>Rallies erupted in several cities, including Paris, Nantes, Lyon, Rennes, Bordeaux, Nice and Pau, with protesters waving signs reading \u201cBye bye Bayrou\u201d and preparing for a larger \u201cBlock Everything\u201d mobilization planned for Sept. 10.<\/p>\n<p>In Nantes, around 300 people turned out, according to the prefecture, while in Paris\u2019 20th arrondissement, at least 200 gathered at Place Gambetta, the French news broadcaster BFM TV reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great victory tonight,\u201d said Amina Elrhardour, 60, who joined the Paris rally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next government should think about the poor and retirees. Everything is expensive, everything is increasing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Bordeaux, young demonstrators applauded to the sound of a brass band, while in Rennes, students gathered around music and confetti before moving into the city center.<\/p>\n<p>Bayrou\u2019s government collapsed after failing to secure a confidence vote, winning only 194 votes against 364 opposed, ending a 269-day tenure at Matignon.<\/p>\n<p>He is expected to submit his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron around midday Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Elysee said Macron had \u201ctaken note\u201d of the defeat and would appoint a new prime minister \u201cin the next few days.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018General collapse\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Earlier Monday, Le Pen denounced what she described as a \u201cgeneral collapse\u201d for which both left- and right-wing leaders were responsible.<\/p>\n<p>She called Bayrou\u2019s fall \u201cthe end of the agony of a phantom government\u201d and described the parliamentary showdown as a \u201cmoment of truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dissolution, she argued, is \u201cnot an option but an obligation. Without dissolution, Emmanuel Macron is blocking the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On the far-left side, France Unbowed leader Jean-Luc Melenchon also raised the stakes, urging Macron to resign outright.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Le Parisien, he said France was in \u201can ultra-clear-out moment\u201d and demanded an early presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMacron must go.
