As part of new licensing requirements being introduced next month, anyone offering paid-for services in parks and green spaces managed by <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bristol-city-council\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol City Council<\/a> would need to pay for a licence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">It included people running exercise classes such as boot camps, yoga and walking groups, who faced needing to apply for a licence in order to operate in Bristol\u2019s parks from Wednesday, October 1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The aim of this scheme was to help keep people safe, protect parks, and support fair access to Bristol\u2019s shared spaces. But now only days after the proposal, the ruling Greens have &#8216;paused&#8217; the plan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Bristol Greens say they believe that the fees associated with the parks licensing scheme as currently proposed are inappropriate and go against many of the values the city. It comes after widespread <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/backlash-extortionate-bristol-parks-fees-10484710\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">backlash<\/a>, with thousands signing a <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.change.org\/p\/reduce-parks-business-licensing-fees-in-bristol\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">petition <\/a>urging a &#8220;more reasonable&#8221; fee and one woman claiming <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/backlash-extortionate-bristol-parks-fees-10484710\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">she would face a bill of more than \u00a320,000 a year.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A statement from the Green councillor group said: \u201cWe are glad that following discussions with the Chair of the Public Health and Communities Committee, the scheme will be paused while the council gets a clearer understanding of the businesses operating in our parks and the impact the proposed fees will have.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cWe encourage all business owners to put in licensing applications so the council can do this effectively.\u201d All parks run by the local authority will come under the new scheme, however <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/clifton\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Clifton<\/a> and Durdham Downs may have a different pricing structure to the council\u2019s scheme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">These specific requirements and prices will be announced in due course. Licensing fees start at \u00a3450 per year for a single park (excluding The Downs) and \u00a3900 for those requiring a licence to cover multiple parks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Dog walking licences are issued per individual walker and are valid for one park or green space only. For the 2025\/26 year the licence for dog walking costs \u00a3450.
