A man has died after police locked down a Glasgow city centre street following reports of a group of people taking unwell, which is understood to be linked to drugs.<\/a><\/p>\n Emergency crews raced to Cambridge Street in the city last night at around 8.10pm after an alarm was raised when a group of people reportedly took unwell<\/a>.<\/p>\n Police Scotland officers cordoned off the road and upon attendance a 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene<\/a>. His next of kin have been made aware of the tragic death.<\/p>\n Ambulance staff treated a 38-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man in the area, while a 37-year-old man was also rushed to hospital<\/a> – where he remains in a stable condition.<\/p>\n It is understood that the death is being treated as drugs related as Police Scotland continue their investigation<\/a>. The death is not believed to be suspicious.<\/p>\n A Police Scotland spokesperson said: \u201cAround 8.10pm on Monday, 8 September, 2025, officers were called to a report of a group of people having taken unwell on Cambridge Street, Glasgow.<\/p>\n \u201cEmergency services attended, and a 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin is aware.<\/p>\n \u201cA 37-year-old man was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.<\/p>\n \u201cA 38-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man were treated by ambulance staff at the scene.<\/p>\n \u201cEnquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n Last month, in a separate incident, we reported that a fire began during a protest in Glasgow City Centre <\/a>which prompted an emergency response.<\/p>\n Images from the scene on August 22 showed the blaze burning against the kerb at the junction of Gordon Street and Mitchell Street.<\/a><\/p>\n Police officers were seen standing guard as protestors were spotted carrying a banner while onlookers watched on from the pavements<\/a>.<\/p>\n An eyewitness said that the fire was started during the protest, with firefighters racing to the scene.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that firefighters attended a fire at the junction<\/a> of Mitchell Street and Gordon Street.
