{"id":410788,"date":"2025-09-09T15:44:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T15:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/410788\/"},"modified":"2025-09-09T15:44:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T15:44:11","slug":"bring-her-back-director-michael-philippou-wrestling-in-a-barbed-wire-death-match-on-september-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/410788\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Bring Her Back&#8217; Director Michael Philippou Wrestling in a Barbed Wire Death Match on September 20!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One half of the directing duo behind A24\u2019s horror movies Talk to Me and Bring Her Back, <strong>Michael Philippou<\/strong> is headed into a wrestling ring for an extreme death match pulled straight out of a horror movie. \u201cCome watch me die,\u201d Philippou begins the announcement on Instagram!<\/p>\n<p>Philippou explains, \u201c<strong>I\u2019m wrestling in an Exploding Barbed Wire Rope Deathmatch<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Game Changer Wrestling &amp; Lucha Libre Vanguardia event will be taking place on <strong>September 20<\/strong> in Pachuca, Mexico. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DOXJ-pFElNK\/?img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philippou teases<\/a>, \u201cYou\u2019ve never seen anything like this!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The violent match will see Philippou and other wrestlers competing inside a ring outfitted with ropes made of barbed wire, with explosives rigged to the barbed wire. It\u2019s a type of match popularized in Japan, with the promotion AEW making headlines a few years back with their own <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=QlkOFu3LXK0&amp;ab_channel=ChrisWilliams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">exploding ring death match<\/a> between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega.<\/p>\n<p>If this all sounds completely out of left field for the horror filmmaker, well, it\u2019s actually not as strange as it may seem.
