Nacho Novo is convinced Oscar Cortes <\/a>can still be a hit for Rangers.<\/p>\n

The attacker has headed out of Ibrox for the season on loan<\/a> as he looks to get consistent minutes under his belt after suffering an injury nightmare since joining the Light Blues.<\/p>\n

Russell Martin<\/a> has undertaken a massive summer overhaul and with the likes of Djeidi Gassama <\/a>and Oliver Antman<\/a> coming in to add to the winger ranks, he’s allowed the 21-year-old to head to Spain with Sporting Gijon.<\/p>\n

They are a club that, like Rangers<\/a>, mean the world to Novo who admits the duo are ‘the teams of his life’.<\/p>\n

Cortes made a late cameo in the Premiership opener with Motherwell as well as the Champions League clash on the road at Plzen.<\/p>\n

He also turned out at left-back for 84 minutes of the Premier Sports Cup<\/a> last 16 win over Alloa Athletic.<\/p>\n

Three main traits stand out for Novo who is convinced he ‘has something’ and can be a big player for Rangers in the future.<\/p>\n

Speaking to El Comercio<\/a>, he said: “A good player. He’s fast, good in one-on-one situations, and a good goal scorer.<\/p>\n

“I haven’t been able to see him regularly because he’s had some injuries, but I like him. He’s got something.”<\/p>\n

Asked if they had spoken since his switch to Spain, Novo<\/a> explained: “No, but I spoke to him once when he was here in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

“He’s a very calm kid. I would like to speak to him to tell him he’s joined a very big club and to wish him the best, that I’m sure he’ll have a good season.<\/p>\n

“He’s a bet for the future for Rangers, and I think he’ll succeed at Sporting. He’ll put in a good performance.”<\/p>\n

He added: “Rangers and Sporting are my two clubs. The teams of my life. Rangers, imagine what I’ve experienced in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

“That’s everything. I have a huge affection for Sporting.<\/p>\n

“I’ve even thought, when my son is older, about buying a little house in Gij\u00f3n and moving there.<\/p>\n
