{"id":411879,"date":"2025-09-10T01:23:24","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T01:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/411879\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T01:23:24","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T01:23:24","slug":"mollies-manchester-in-final-stages-of-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/411879\/","title":{"rendered":"Mollie\u2019s Manchester in \u2018final stages of development\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mollie\u2019s Motels has confirmed its largest site to date is in its \u201cfinal stages of development\u201d in its latest set of results.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Although Mollie\u2019s Manchester was originally slated to open in 2022, it is now targeting an FY25 launch.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Plans for the motel and diner occupying the former Granada TV Studios in Manchester were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecaterer.com\/news\/mollies-motel-diner-brand-gears-rapid-expansion-manchester\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first announced in 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It comes as Mollie\u2019s posted a 4% increase in turnover to \u00a310.4m in its results for the year ended 29 December 2024.\u00a0Roughly \u00a34.9m of this came from accommodation sales, while \u00a35.4m was from food and beverage.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This follows a similar pattern to the previous year, when accommodation contributed to \u00a34.7m in turnover while food and beverage provided \u00a35.3m.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mollie\u2019s posted a loss before tax of \u00a32m for the second year in a row. An adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) loss of \u00a3926,131 was reported, shrinking from a \u00a31.2m loss the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The group said losses were caused by its \u201ccontinued investment in its people, systems and infrastructure necessary to meet the company\u2019s future expansion plans\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The directors said Mollie\u2019s Bristol and Oxford sites are \u201cEBITDA profitable and are forecasted to continue to trade profitably for the next financial year despite the ongoing cost inflation environment in the industry\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The business has already earmarked \u201ca number of potential sites\u201d for its pipeline of future openings.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In July, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecaterer.com\/news\/mollies-plots-first-scottish-hotel-and-diner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed plans to open its fourth property in Edinburgh in 2028<\/a>, subject to planning permission and licensing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mollie\u2019s was founded by former Soho House chief executive Nick Jones, initially launching under the Soho House brand prior to being spun off in 2020 as an independent entity.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Inspired by the classic American motels and diners, the brand became a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecaterer.com\/news\/mollies-achieves-b-corp-status\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">certified B Corp business<\/a>\u00a0in October 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Mollie\u2019s Motels has confirmed its largest site to date is in its \u201cfinal stages of development\u201d in its&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":411880,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8813],"tags":[748,393,4884,2465,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-411879","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-manchester","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-manchester","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115177390319007222","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/411879","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=411879"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/411879\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/411880"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=411879"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=411879"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=411879"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
