Joe Lycett<\/a> has called out people trying to dad-shame him online.<\/p>\n Last October, the comedian, 36, announced he\u2019d become a dad<\/a> with an Instagram<\/a> post thanking Birmingham<\/a> Women\u2019s Hospital staff for welcoming his son into the world.<\/p>\n Since then, Joe\u2019s been keen to keep the baby out of the public eye, but while appearing on today\u2019s episode of Lorraine<\/a> \u2013 to promote his new series, Joe Lycett\u2019s United States of Birmingham \u2013 he got candid about parenthood.<\/p>\n The host congratulated the Last One Laughing<\/a> star on becoming a father, saying it was \u2018absolutely fantastic\u2019.<\/p>\n \u2018Yes! I\u2019m amazed I\u2019ve strung a sentence together \u2019cause I\u2019m so underslept,\u2019 Joe replied. \u2018It\u2019s so beautiful, the whole thing. It\u2019s so hard to not be clich\u00e9d when you talk about parenthood because everything everyone says about it is exactly right.<\/p>\n \u2018It\u2019s sort of everything, and maddening, and beautiful and yeah. I\u2019m having a lovely time with it; I\u2019m really in love with it. It\u2019s great.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t After Lorraine Kelly<\/a> shared a picture of the pair, however, Joe couldn\u2019t help but poke fun at people trying to dad shame him on Instagram.<\/p>\n \u2018He\u2019s not a potato,\u2019 Joe said while pointing at the picture. \u2018This is what everyone said on Instagram. \u201cHe\u2019s not holding the neck right!\u201d The number of people who tell you how to parent.\u2019<\/p>\n Lorraine, 65, clearly shared Joe\u2019s exasperation, advising that he, \u2018just tell them to shush.<\/p>\n Joe surprised everyone with the news that he and his girlfriend, whom he affectionately calls Denise<\/a> while keeping her real name a secret, had become parents back in October last year.<\/p>\n \t\t The popular comedian announced the news on Instagram with a picture of himself holding the baby.<\/p>\n \u2018An appreciation post from me for the extraordinary @bham_womens hospital. My first encounter with them was years ago when they looked after a pal of mine through surgery, and then most recently when they masterfully welcomed a little boy into the world, who happens to be my son,\u2019 the caption read.<\/p>\n \u2018The care and compassion his mum and he received was exceptional; from the antenatal classes, incredible midwives, consultants, doctors, nurses and the ongoing care in the community. We also loved their baked potatoes.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018Birmingham is so lucky to have them, and I will be forever grateful for everything they\u2019ve done.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t The news sparked a degree of confusion online, with many fans wondering if the announcement wasn\u2019t one of his trademark pranks.<\/p>\n Joe infamously changed his name to Hugo Boss<\/a> to draw attention to the fashion company\u2019s allegedly taking legal action against other smaller companies, costing them thousands in legal fees.<\/p>\n Since then, the comedian has pulled off several other high-profile stunts, including one controversial joke where he pretended to shred \u00a310,000<\/a> to draw attention to Qatar\u2019s stance on LGBTQ+ rights.<\/p>\n In the November edition of his newsletter, Joe was forced to confirm that his baby wasn\u2019t part of some elaborate gag.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has been so lovely about my news (you may have seen on Instagram or in the press that I have just welcomed a son), he wrote. \u2018I\u2019m finding fatherhood to be a total delight.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018And to confirm, he\u2019s defo not a stunt (although I appreciate, I\u2019ve cried wolf enough that might not be convincing).\u2019<\/p>\n Following the baby\u2019s birth, Joe appeared on Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe\u2019s Parenting Hell podcast, where he joked that he\u2019d spent the first few weeks of fatherhood crying and explained how \u2018immensely proud\u2019 he is of Denise, who\u2019d taken to motherhood like a \u2018duck to water\u2019.<\/p>\n During their chat, Joe admitted, however, that one of his pranks had come back to haunt him when he was registering the baby\u2019s name<\/a>.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018When we went to register his name, the registrar said to me, \u201cHave you been known by any other names?\u201d\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018I said \u201cNo\u201d then I looked over at my partner and she furrowed her brow, and I went, \u201cOh yeah, I was known as a Hugo Boss for a while.\u201d\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018And she had to go into real granular detail, and she said, \u201cYou got lucky because if you were Hugo Boss on your passport, we have to put that on his birth certificate, the father is Joe Lycett, also known as Hugo Boss\u201d.<\/p>\n Fortunately for Joe, the passport was rejected because when he signed the form, instead of writing Hugo Boss, he drew something rude, so staff rejected his application. <\/p>\n Lorraine airs weekdays at 9 am on ITV1.<\/strong><\/p>\n Got a story?<\/strong><\/p>\n If you\u2019ve got a celebrity story, video or pictures get in touch with the Metro.co.uk<\/a> entertainment team by emailing us celebtips@metro.co.uk, calling 020 3615 2145 or by visiting our Submit Stuff<\/a> page \u2013 we\u2019d love to hear from you.<\/p>\n Arrow Arrow![\"Joe](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/SEI_248406091-9305.jpg\")
