Two people have been taken to hospital<\/a> following two separate crashes on the M80 this morning.<\/p>\n

Emergency services<\/a> were called to the incidents near Junction 3 at Moodiesburn, in Lanarkshire, at around 9.30am on Tuesday. Two ambulances, a special operations response team, a paramedic response unit, a critical care paramedic, and a trauma team were sent to the scene.<\/p>\n

A 71-year-old man was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment<\/a>, while another patient was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Their conditions are currently unknown.<\/p>\n

A picture taken from the scene showed a white Kia Sportage badly damaged as a result of one of the crashes. Debris could be seen scattered across the road while uniformed officers carried out enquiries.<\/p>\n

It not yet known how many vehicles were involved but the collisions took place on either side of the carriageway. The motorway has since fully reopened.<\/p>\n

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: \u201cWe received a call at 9.29am to attend two road traffic collisions on the M80, one on each side of the carriageway. Two ambulances, a special operations response team (SORT), a paramedic response unit, a critical care paramedic and a trauma team were dispatched to the scene.<\/p>\n

“One patient was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and another patient to the Royal Infirmary of Glasgow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both northbound and southbound carriageways were shut following the incident<\/a>. The northbound carriageway was shut for more than two hours following the crash, as police told motorists to “avoid the area”.<\/p>\n

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The M80 has now fully re-opened at junction 3 near Moodiesburn, following two crashes which were reported to us around 9.25am on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.<\/p>\n

“Emergency services attended and a 71-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
