{"id":412230,"date":"2025-09-10T04:29:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T04:29:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/412230\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T04:29:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T04:29:14","slug":"young-people-bring-colour-to-paisley-through-new-murals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/412230\/","title":{"rendered":"Young people bring colour to Paisley through new murals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The artwork has been created by youth groups and pupils from Williamsburgh and St John Ogilvie primary schools.<\/p>\n<p>14:33, 09 Sep 2025Updated 14:33, 09 Sep 2025<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_ehr_pde_020925_seedhill2.jpg\" alt=\"Young people work on the murals\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>The murals have been produced by youth groups and pupils from Paisley primary schools(Image: Renfrewshire council)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Young people have created three vibrant new murals to transform an area of Seedhill in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/paisley\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Paisley.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The murals have been produced by youth groups and pupils from Williamsburgh and St John Ogilvie primary schools, supported by Renfrewshire Council\u2019s youth services and street artists Tragic O\u2019Hara and Peter Stewart Arts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Love2Care mural showcases the voices of care-experienced young people with colours, symbols and words. It tells of their hopes and strength and the importance of having community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Meanwhile, the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RenfrewshireLive\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Paisley<\/a> in the Future mural design was based on drawings by Williamsburgh Primary pupils on their ideas of what the town could look like in years to come.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Characters mural was designed by St John Ogilvie Primary pupils, showcasing their favourite things, people and hobbies. Students voted on the winning design to be painted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A Williamsburgh Primary pupil said: \u201cIn school, we worked together to draw ideas for the mural then Tosh put this all together and painted the outlines on the wall for us to fill in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_ehr_pde_020925_seedhill.jpg\" alt=\"One of the new murals\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>One of the new favourite part of the experience was colouring in my design on the wall with spray paint.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Councillor Marie McGurk, convener of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/renfrewshire-council\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Renfrewshire Council\u2019s<\/a> community and housing policy board, said: \u201cThese murals are a celebration of young people\u2019s creativity and reflect their thoughts, feelings and imaginations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cI hope they feel pride in what they have created with these street artists and that residents and visitors to Seedhill enjoy the colourful artwork.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Love2Care and Characters murals were funded through the Promise Partnership youth-led grants programme \u2013 one of several Scottish Government initiatives delivered under The Promise Partnership and administered by the Corra Foundation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">A fourth mural focusing on climate change and sustainability is in development with support from Scottish Leather Group, whose site neighbours the wall filling with murals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\"
