The turmoil, a prelude to Wednesday\u2019s nationwide \u201cBloquons Tout\u201d (Block Everything) strikes on September 10, 2025, was exacerbated by a chilling wave of anti-Muslim acts\u2014nine pig heads left outside mosques, some scrawled with \u201cMacron\u201d in blue ink.<\/p>\n<p>The city braces for worse as tens of thousands prepare to paralyse France over the 2026 budget\u2019s punishing austerity measures. On Monday, <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.express.co.uk\/news\/world\/2106231\/macron-france-debt-francois-bayrou-resigns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prime Minister Fran\u00e7ois Bayrou\u2019s minority government collapsed<\/a> after a 364-194 no-confidence vote, his push for \u20ac43.8 billion in savings uniting far-left and far-right opponents.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bayrou told the National Assembly: \u201cAll the challenges facing us come down to one essential, urgent question\u2026 controlling our spending and our excessive debt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He futher warned that \u201cdomination by our creditors\u2026 produces the loss of our liberty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bayrou&#8217;s budget cut \u20ac5.5 billion from hospitals, eliminated May 8 and Easter Monday holidays, froze pensions, and slashed public services\u2014deemed a \u201chorror show\u201d by unions.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cFrance has not had a balanced budget in 51 years,\u201d blaming pandemics and wars for the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Macron, with approval ratings at a grim 15%, appointed S\u00e9bastien Lecornu as PM on September 9, rejecting calls for new elections.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cTo be free in this world, you have to be feared,\u201d defiant amid impeachment demands.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday the \u201cBlock Everything\u201d movement\u2014born on social media, backed by unions and extremists\u2014 is planning roadblocks, sit-ins, and strikes across transport, schools, and hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>Paris hotspots such as Bastille and R\u00e9publique face heavy police presence, with 80,000 security forces deployed nationwide. RER D and Transilien R face disruptions, though metro services may continue running.<\/p>\n<p>The pig head incidents, confirmed at four Paris mosques and five in suburbs like Montreuil, have heightened tensions.
