Thenue Housing delivered a resilient message to members at its 46th AGM held in Calton last night.<\/p>\n
The RSL outlined its ongoing and ambitious building programme, but recognised that the \u201cseemingly never ending\u201d cost of living pressures were making life difficult for its communities.<\/p>\n
Thenue chair Pauline Casey reminded members that the Association was \u201cdoing all it could\u201d to lessen the financial pressure on people, demonstrating the vital role community-based housing providers like Thenue fulfil in countless neighbourhoods across Scotland.<\/p>\n
Pauline reminded members that Thenue\u2019s skilled and hard-working staff had put \u00a31.4 million back into people\u2019s pockets in a single year through its Financial Inclusion Service which included help with energy bills.<\/p>\n
That amount – made up largely of State benefits which people were entitled to and not claiming – soared by \u00a3100,000 on the previous year\u2019s figure, reflecting the intense financial pressure families were under.<\/p>\n
Pauline also told the meeting that \u00a0Thenue was continuing to build homes where people want to live, highlighting the forthcoming re-purposing of a derelict school and adjacent new build in Calton, plus a particularly large development of 114 flats and five houses in Dalmarnock.<\/p>\n
Pauline told the AGM: \u201cRising costs present significant challenges for us all. So it\u2019s about balancing things – making sure Thenue is on a sustainable financial footing while continuing to deliver the things you have told us are important, such as our community regeneration work, a fast and efficient repair service, dealing with anti-social behaviour when it arises and keeping the community looking good in terms of our estates. And crucially, ensuring rents are affordable.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of our latest innovations is our new Customer Portal which gives customers 24\/7 access to our services at a time convenient to you.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis includes allowing people to view a rent balance, report non-emergency repairs, update household information, report issues around anti-social behaviour and view relevant documents. We look forward to further developing the range of online services available through the portal to enhance the accessibility, functionality and positive experience for our customers.<\/p>\n
\u201dThe Portal can be accessed from any device with an internet connection and is available to both tenants and owners.\u201d<\/p>\n
There was praise too for the community focus undertaken by the three Area Associations in Bridgeton & Dalmarnock, Cranhill and Netherholm in Castlemilk – made up of volunteers who continue to play a pivotal role in the life of Thenue.<\/p>\n
Pauline added: \u201cI also want to thank them for all that they have done in the last year and will continue to do in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
