{"id":412905,"date":"2025-09-10T10:34:16","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T10:34:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/412905\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T10:34:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T10:34:16","slug":"huge-new-venue-with-two-1500-seat-theatres-to-open-in-east-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/412905\/","title":{"rendered":"Huge new venue, with two 1500-seat theatres, to open in east London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatsonstage.com\/?attachment_id=1693834\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1693834 noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1693834\" title=\"troub\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/troub.jpg\" alt=\"troub\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\"  \/><\/a>A mock-up of the new venue<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"223\">Troubadour Theatres has announced plans to open a major new venue on Greenwich Peninsula, featuring two 1,500-seat auditoriums.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"223\">The development, named Troubadour Greenwich Peninsula Theatre, is set to open in autumn 2026.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"225\" data-end=\"647\">The new complex follows the company\u2019s existing sites at Wembley Park, currently home to the WhatsOnStage Award-winning production of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatsonstage.com\/news\/starlight-express-extends-run-once-more_1692555\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Starlight Express<\/a>, and Canary Wharf, which will open in October 2025 with the eagerly-anticipated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatsonstage.com\/news\/the-hunger-games-stage-show-announces-full-cast_1689991\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first stage adaptation of The Hunger Games<\/a>. The Greenwich venue will serve as a receiving house for large-scale productions and international live entertainment.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatsonstage.com\/?attachment_id=1693792\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1693792 noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1693792\" title=\"troubadour greenwich\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/troubadour-greenwich.jpg\" alt=\"troubadour greenwich\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\"  \/><\/a>A mock-up of the new venue<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"649\" data-end=\"942\">The theatre will be located in the heart of the Greenwich Peninsula development, which already includes over 5,500 residents and 180 businesses. According to the operators, it is designed to \u201ccement Greenwich Peninsula\u2019s reputation as a premier destination for arts and culture\u201d with strong transport links to central London and the surrounding counties, with an easy proximity to the O2 Arena.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatsonstage.com\/?attachment_id=1693793\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1693793 noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1693793\" title=\"artist render\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/artist-render.jpg\" alt=\"artist render\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\"  \/><\/a>An artist\u2019s render of the new space, supplied by Troubadour<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"944\" data-end=\"1299\">Troubadour founders Oliver Royds and Tristan Baker said the expansion marks \u201ca thrilling new chapter\u201d for the company, adding: \u201cAs the waiting list for West End theatres gets longer we\u2019re delighted that these new theatres will allow us to welcome even more ambitious productions and provide audiences with unforgettable live experiences.
