New owners have acquired a city centre venue nine months after it closed. The former pizzeria and bar space on Parr Street quickly became an alternative outlet for late night entertainment when it first opened as Crazy Pedro’s<\/a> in 2017.<\/p>\n

Crazy Pedro’s<\/a> is run by hospitality operators Ross Mackenzie, Jobe Ferguson and Lyndon Higginson<\/a>, who run bars and restaurants in Manchester including the Cane & Grain. Late in 2023, another of the group’s venues, a Tiki bar named The Liars Club, announced its closure.<\/p>\n

In December 2024, Crazy Pedro’s<\/a> bid farewell to customers, with the final day of operations falling on Sunday, December 22.<\/p>\n

A statement from the venue at the time read: “Crazy times are unfortunately calling time on Crazy Pedro’s Liverpool. After seven years of Pedro\u2019s love affair with Liverpool, the party is almost over but not quite yet.<\/p>\n

“Rising costs, the ongoing cost of living crisis, inflation and the recent budget mean we can no longer ride it out into the New Year. We love you Liverpool – we are super grateful for all the support and friendships made but unfortunately it\u2019s now beyond our means to carry on.”<\/p>\n

The Parr Street venue has now been acquired by Oliver craft beer business Black Cat Bar and Bottle Shop, which already boasts sites on Smithdown Road<\/a> and on Rose Lane in Mossley Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, Black Cat posted a video on Instagram jingling a pair of keys outside Crazy Pedro’s as the shutters rolled up. The caption reads: “Did you guess it? The ol’ Crazy Peds – Black Cat Parr St.”<\/p>\n

Prior to this, Black Cat has been teasing the opening of a city centre venue<\/a> recently. Black Cat recently said: “The past five years have been beyond our wildest dreams – relaunching as Black Cat, opening Rose Lane and being nominated for CAMRA pub of the year in just nine months and now a third venue is on its way.<\/p>\n

“Liverpool city centre<\/a>, we\u2019re coming and it\u2019s gonna be crazy. That\u2019s all we\u2019ll say for now.”<\/p>\n

Serving a wide range of craft beer and real ales, Black Cat started on Smithdown Road and expanded onto Rose Lane in 2024<\/a>. They have become firm favourites of beer lovers in the south of the city.<\/p>\n

The craft beer bars are not connected with Black Cat Club<\/a>, which opened its doors at Exchange Flags in the city centre on May 9.<\/p>\n

But the opening has been causing some confusion for Black Cat bar, who said it has been contacted by customers who have thought they are all part of the same venture.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Facebook<\/a> in May, the bar and bottle shop said: “Black Cat Club is a completely different place, with the same name, confusingly.<\/p>\n

“So go to them for ping pong and games in town, come to us on Smithdown or Rose Lane for amazing craft beer, margarita Mondays and two of the best quizzes in Liverpool!
