As tensions within the royal family<\/a> continue, Queen Consort Camilla reportedly once told King Charles that she feels uneasy around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. According to insiders, Camilla hasn\u2019t quite forgotten Harry\u2019s hurtful words in Spare. In his controversial memoir, Harry had dubbed Camilla as the ‘wicked stepmother’<\/a> and the ‘villain’\u2014labels she spent decades erasing with good PR.<\/p>\n

As reported by Marie Claire<\/a>, this is a major reason why Camilla prefers to keep her distance from the Sussexes. As reported by OK! magazine<\/a>, the source added, \u201cCamilla tells Charles they make her uncomfortable, and Charles loves her unconditionally\u2014he made her queen and will choose her well-being over them any time. Camilla knows not to go too far, as Charles still loves Harry. Everyone blames Meghan for the entire mess.\u201d In his memoir, Harry also described Camilla as ‘dangerous’ and accused her of playing a calculated game to secure her position in the royal family.<\/p>\n

Royal biographer Penny Junor also highlighted Harry and Camilla\u2019s tense relationship in her book Prince William: Born to be King. Quoting a palace insider, Junor wrote, “I think the relationship between them all is warm now, but if I’m honest, it wasn’t then. I think they found it hard. To be fair to Camilla, she never tried to be mummy, but she was the ‘other woman’ and she was there and taking daddy’s time.” Over the years, Harry and Prince William’s feelings towards Camilla softened. In 2005, during an interview for his 21st birthday, Harry expressed that both he and his brother had come to adore her, saying they loved her to bits.<\/p>\n

Harry also publicly thanked Camilla for bringing so much joy to their father. However, a close friend revealed that while the tension between Harry and Camilla has majorly eased, their relationship has always been more about appearing united than developing a true bond, as reported by The Mirror<\/a>. The person argued, \u201cThey [Harry and William] were never close with her, and they still aren\u2019t.\u201d Interestingly, when Harry first brought Markle to meet his family, it was reportedly Camilla with whom Markle quickly found common ground with not because they were both former divorcees, but through their shared love for yoga and fine wine.<\/p>\n

However, as time passed, cracks began to appear in their relationship, as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to step down from royal duties.
