{"id":413064,"date":"2025-09-10T12:01:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T12:01:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/413064\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T12:01:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T12:01:12","slug":"woman-who-shouted-nazi-slogan-in-glasgow-found-guilty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/413064\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman who shouted &#8216;Nazi slogan&#8217; in Glasgow found guilty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Rochelle Green had been spotted by a police officer outside Glasgow&#8217;s Mitchell Library last October 3.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The 32 year-old went on to hit an elderly stranger on the head.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Green has now been convicted of threatening and abusive behaviour as well as assault following a trial at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/glasgow-sheriff-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow Sheriff Court<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ MORE:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenational.scot\/news\/25455694.keir-starmer-pressure-publish-peter-mandelson-vetting-documents\/?rel=cl_lsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keir Starmer under pressure to publish Peter Mandelson vetting documents<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  PC Grace Ross had become aware of Green yelling while dealing with another matter that day.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Fiscal Ross Canning asked the officer if Green shouted anything specific and she replied: &#8220;Sieg Heil, like a Nazi chant.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  PC Ross added the woman also raised her arm in &#8220;what I can describe as a Nazi salute.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  When asked if she could be mistaken, the officer replied: &#8220;No, I have seen it before and she shouted Sieg Heil while she was doing it.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  An elderly man meantime with shopping bags was walking past Green.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  PC Ross: &#8220;Green continued to shout, walked behind him then prodded him on the back of the head. The man raised his elbow to fend her off.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  PC Liam Coyle added that he saw Green stamp her feet as well as do the Nazi salute.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Green, in her evidence, told the court that she was dancing outside of the library while listening to music on her headphones.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Manjit Ram, defending, asked her if she said the phrase &#8216;Sieg Heil&#8217; to which she replied: &#8220;I did.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Miss Ram: &#8220;What was your intention?&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Green: &#8220;It was purely for entertainment value &#8211; it seems silly but it is true.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  When asked if she made a gun motion with her fingers, Green replied: &#8220;I do not know why I would do such a thing.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Miss Ram later asked Green if she hit the man and she responded: &#8220;I recoil from physical contact.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/whatsapp.com\/channel\/0029VaHx9kx1dAvyKrRoxz1F\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/17627538.jpg\"\/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Sheriff Vincent Lunny stated when convicting Green that a Nazi salute would &#8220;be considered threatening and abusive&#8221; as well as &#8220;cause fear and alarm.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The sheriff added: &#8220;I am satisfied that you did make a gun gesture to the elderly man and struck him to the head.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month and Green, now of Preston, Lancashire, remains in custody meantime.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Rochelle Green had been spotted by a police officer outside Glasgow&#8217;s Mitchell Library last October 3.
