A Co Donegal driving range owner has taken a swing at American President Donald Trump \u2013 by erecting targets of him on his golfing facility.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well-known local golf enthusiast Con Boyce has run the Target Golf Range at Ballyboe on the outskirts of Letterkenny for almost five years.<\/p>\n

Con says his driving range is more for fun than for professionals to brush up on their swing.<\/p>\n

But America\u2019s number one citizen might not see the funny side in the businessman\u2019s elaborate efforts which has left him calling the shots.<\/p>\n

Con admits that he is not a fan of Trump and admits that his tariffs were the last straw.<\/p>\n

\u201cNope, I\u2019m not a fan. Never have been. His tariffs have the potential to destroy everything and I\u2019m just waiting for him to put a tariff on golfers,\u201d said Con.<\/p>\n

So, for a bit of fun and also to take aim at the world\u2019s most powerful man, Con decided to literally take aim at Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went out and got a couple of old car bonnets and contacted a sign-maker I know to put pictures of the man himself on them.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnybody who hits him on the mouth even gets a prize,\u201d laughed Con.<\/p>\n

Con has been playing golf for more than 35 years and is on first name terms with a certain Rory McIlroy and his father Gerry.<\/p>\n

Indeed, Con was instrumental in bringing a young Rory to Rosapenna Golf Club when he was still a promising amateur.<\/p>\n

Con says the world of golf has exploded even more since Rory won the Masters Tournaments earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince Rory won the green jacket, golf has got even bigger. We get a lot of young men coming out to the Target Range but they now bring their girlfriends and they have a bit of fun.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnybody can give golf a try and I love to offer the odd tip for any young golfer who comes out to the range. It\u2019s a great sport and great to get out and play, especially between workmates,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

And despite not being Trump\u2019s biggest fan, businessman Con said would be more than happy to welcome President Trump to Donegal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy not? If he was over playing in Doonbeg, he could jump in his chopper and pop up to the Target Range and have a few shots at himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen after a few swings on the range, the Don can say he met the Con,\u201d he laughed.<\/p>\n
