\n Rye has been transformed into a Regency-inspired film set for the upcoming remake of “Pride and Prejudice,” produced by author and columnist Dolly Alderton.\n<\/p>\n
\n Known for her 2018 memoir “Everything I Know About Love”,\u00a0Alderton’s new project is a six-part adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel.\n<\/p>\n
\n Filming is taking part in Rye town centre (Image: Scott Varley) Images and video from social media show the town centre converted into a Georgian-inspired film set, with actors and extras visible in period costumes.\n<\/p>\n
\n The series, directed by Euros Lyn, has been filming at various locations across the UK, including London and Yorkshire.\n<\/p>\n
\n Crews were spotted in Rye in September 8, with filming expected to take place for several days.\n<\/p>\n
\n It’s a new Netflix production of Pride and Prejudice (Image: Scott Varley) The cast includes Golden Globe winner Emma Corrin and Bafta\u00a0winner Jack Lowden as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy, alongside Academy Award winner Olivia Colman as Mrs Bennet.\n<\/p>\n
\n Rufus Sewell, Freya Mavor, Jamie Demetriou, Daryl McCormack, Rhea Norwood, Siena Kelly, and Louis Partridge are also part of the line up.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\n Alderton previously said of the upcoming production: “Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it.\n<\/p>\n

\n The novel was published in 1813 (Image: Scott Varley) Pride and Prejudice\u00a0is Austen’s second published novel, written when she was just 21 years old.\n<\/p>\n
\n Published in 1813, it follows the character development of Elizabeth Bennet, who learns about the repercussions of hasty judgments and comes to appreciate the difference between superficial goodness and actual goodness.\n<\/p>\n
\n This is not the first time Rye has been used as a filming location for a Jane Austen-related production.\n<\/p>\n
