A huge blaze has broken out at a recycling centre in Glasgow<\/a>.<\/p>\n Fire crews<\/a> have raced to the S. Norton & Co plant on London Road in Helenslea, in the east end, after the inferno broke out at around 7.20pm on Wednesday. The area has been closed off by police while firefighters<\/a> tackle the blaze.<\/p>\n Explosions have been heard and footage take from the scene, which has been shared with Glasgow Live<\/a>, shows flames leaping from the recycling plant as thick smoke<\/a> billows into the sky.<\/p>\n Residents are advised to keep their windows closed and motorists have been asked to avoid the area. There are no reported casualties so far.<\/p>\n Local resident Colin Harkins told our sister title: \u201cThere is a massive fire at a recycling plant in the east end of Glasgow. There is also an acrid taste in the air.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cLondon Road is currently closed in both directions with police and fire in attendance.\u201d<\/p>\n Another local resident said: \u201cI was out in my garden and could smell smoke but it was really strong. I looked along the road and could see flames above the trees near the Celtic training ground.<\/p>\n “I went along to have a look and it\u2019s the scrapyard beside it. It\u2019s a huge blaze.
