\n Badges were awarded by the Lieutenant Governor this week\n <\/p>\n
More than 40 young people from the Isle of Man\u00a0received their Duke of Edinburgh\u2019s (DofE) Gold Award this week.<\/p>\n
They all had to complete\u00a0a 12\u201318 month programme\u00a0to\u00a0achieve the scheme\u2019s highest award.<\/p>\n
The programme included\u00a0volunteering, learning new skills, physical activity, and a four-day expedition.<\/p>\n
His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Lorimer, presented all 43 recipients\u00a0with a Gold badge on Tuesday (9 September).<\/p>\n
This year’s recipients were:<\/p>\n
Castle Rushen High School (CRHS)<\/strong> Ramsey Grammar School (RGS)<\/strong> Independent Duke of Edinburgh (IDOE)<\/strong> Independent participants<\/strong> Isle of Man Explorers<\/strong> Compleat Care<\/strong> Daphne Caine MHK, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, said: “Although the Duke of Edinburgh Awards have been running for nearly 70 years, they remain completely relevant.\u00a0<\/p>\n “Young people learn teamwork and problem-solving, develop resilience, push themselves to achieve goals, and grow in confidence. All of this prepares them for life\u2019s challenges.<\/p>\n “I would like to congratulate all our fantastic Gold recipients.
