{"id":414747,"date":"2025-09-11T03:03:48","date_gmt":"2025-09-11T03:03:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/414747\/"},"modified":"2025-09-11T03:03:48","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T03:03:48","slug":"duke-of-edinburghs-gold-awards-presented-to-43-young-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/414747\/","title":{"rendered":"Duke of Edinburgh\u2019s Gold Awards presented to 43 young people"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aiir-c-news-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/225537-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>\n                                    Picture credit: Isle of Man Government<\/p>\n<p class=\"aiir-c-news-article__abstract\">\n            Badges were awarded by the Lieutenant Governor this week\n        <\/p>\n<p>More than 40 young people from the Isle of Man\u00a0received their Duke of Edinburgh\u2019s (DofE) Gold Award this week.<\/p>\n<p>They all had to complete\u00a0a 12\u201318 month programme\u00a0to\u00a0achieve the scheme\u2019s highest award.<\/p>\n<p>The programme included\u00a0volunteering, learning new skills, physical activity, and a four-day expedition.<\/p>\n<p>His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, Sir John Lorimer, presented all 43 recipients\u00a0with a Gold badge on Tuesday (9 September).<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s recipients were:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Castle Rushen High School (CRHS)<\/strong><br \/>Samuel Barker, Immi Beech, Ben Biltcliffe, Jasper Blackford, James Carcas, Holly Charmer, Florian Clements, Peter Cope, Noah Garcia-Fierro, Freya Gelling, Dora Giummri, Amelie Hutchinson, Louis Kennedy, Louis Laisney, Theo Mackie, Lisa Martin, Claire Mason, Ned McGregor, Oliver Nicholson, Amy Potts, Kate Potts, Freddie Sime, Lucy Sloane, Corbin Stewart, Matthew Valerga, Ruby Watterson<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ramsey Grammar School (RGS)<\/strong><br \/>Keira Brown, Abbigail Radcliffe, Aaron Rielly, Ayrton Withington, Darcey Withington<\/p>\n<p><strong>Independent Duke of Edinburgh (IDOE)<\/strong><br \/>Catreeney Ayres, Bree Cassidy, Katie Evans, Sarah Harris, Stella Karezi, Tom Leach, Edan Smith, Thomas Watterson<\/p>\n<p><strong>Independent participants<\/strong><br \/>Elliott Butler, Emily Osbourn<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isle of Man Explorers<\/strong><br \/>David Cowin<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compleat Care<\/strong><br \/>Ben Mason<\/p>\n<p>Daphne Caine MHK, Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, said: &#8220;Although the Duke of Edinburgh Awards have been running for nearly 70 years, they remain completely relevant.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Young people learn teamwork and problem-solving, develop resilience, push themselves to achieve goals, and grow in confidence. All of this prepares them for life\u2019s challenges.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I would like to congratulate all our fantastic Gold recipients.
