{"id":415428,"date":"2025-09-11T09:22:29","date_gmt":"2025-09-11T09:22:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/415428\/"},"modified":"2025-09-11T09:22:29","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T09:22:29","slug":"waterloo-and-vauxhall-stations-to-close-over-christmas-for-major-railway-upgrades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/415428\/","title":{"rendered":"Waterloo and Vauxhall stations to close over Christmas for major railway upgrades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Waterloo station will be closed for four days over Christmas and will have a reduced timetable for the following week, due to major engineering works on the railway between Vauxhall and Waterloo.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/8400e186.delivery.rocketcdn.me\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/london-waterloo-station-by-ianvisits.jpg\" class=\"lightbox\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-83788\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"336\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/london-waterloo-station-by-ianvisits-1024x569.jpg\"\/><\/a>Waterloo station (c) ianVisits<\/p>\n<p>Network Rail has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkrail.co.uk\/running-the-railway\/our-routes\/wessex\/waterloo-mainline-upgrades\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> that the closure is needed because engineers will be spending Christmas replacing 1,000 metres of track between Queenstown Road station and Nine Elms junction.
