It\u2019s had its say on London\u2019s best coffee shops<\/a>, given its two pence on its best gardens<\/a>\u00a0and shared its opinion on the city\u2019s poshest neighbourhoods<\/a>, now, the\u00a0Telegraph<\/a> has unveiled its list of the top 10 coolest areas in the capital city.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What makes somewhere cool, exactly? According to the\u00a0Telegraph,\u00a0it\u2019s a place with a rich blend of cultures, a characterful mix of independent shops and caffs, an energetic offering of bars, boozers and music venues, and a bit of \u2018grit\u2019. All that considered, the paper crowned\u00a0Peckham<\/strong>\u00a0the coolest London neighbourhood of them all.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Telegraph\u00a0called the\u00a0SE15 \u2018loud, messy and more than a bit chaotic\u2019. It wrote: \u2018Step off the busy, litter-strewn thoroughfare and Peckham opens up. Home to a vibrant Afro-Caribbean community, the neighbourhood is never boring \u2013 or silent. Jazz wafts from the CLF Art Lounge most weekends, DJs pump out electronica from rooftop bars, and there\u2019s always Afrobeat playing somewhere \u2013 they don\u2019t call it \u201cLittle Lagos\u201d for nothing.\u2019<\/p>\n

Time Out named Peckham London\u2019s coolest area back in 2018 and 2019. In our guide to the area,<\/a> Time Out contributor and Peckham local Lauren O\u2019Neill said: \u2018It would be a total understatement to call Peckham a melting-pot. Home to Del Boy, road rap hero Giggs, national acting treasures Olivia Colman and John Boyega and a much-photographed pink staircase, this south-east London neighbourhood is a place where a multitude of cultures exist alongside one another, creating a vibe that is completely unique.\u2019<\/p>\n

We\u00a0recommend stopping by \u2018much-loved bastion\u2019 Peckhamplex<\/a> for a \u00a35.99 movie, partying at The<\/a> Carpet Shop<\/a>, trying the fried chicken at Malaysian joint Janda Diner<\/a> or checking out the outdoor artwork at Bold Tendencies<\/a>. West London neighbourhood Ladbroke Grove was the paper\u2019s second coolest place in the capital. It called W10, which is the birthplace of The Clash, home to London\u2019s largest Moroccan and Portuguese communities and part of the Notting Hill Carnival<\/a> route \u2018decidedly grittier, cooler and more diverse than its oh-so-prim-and-proper neighbour [Notting Hill]\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The rest of the\u00a0Telegraph\u2019s\u00a0list is largely taken up by other east or southeast London postcodes, including Bethnal Green, Leyton<\/a> (Time Out\u2019s coolest London neighbourhood for 2024<\/a>) and Walthamstow (our pick in 2022<\/a>).<\/p>\n
