Wales’ music scene is set to shine next month, as some of the country’s most exciting new and established artists take to the stage for the Welsh Music Prize. From the hypnotic psych-rock of Melin Melyn to the sharp lyricism of rapper Sage Todz, the live line-up promises a night of unforgettable performances.<\/p>\n
Now in its fifteenth year, the Welsh Music Prize has become a celebrated platform for Welsh talent, honouring the best albums created in Wales or by Welsh artists worldwide.<\/p>\n
This year’s ceremony will see BBC<\/a> Radio 1 presenter Sian Eleri reveal the winner of the \u00a310,000 prize, capping off a night of music and celebration.<\/p>\n Ahead of the ceremony, Jack Sargeant, Culture Minister, praised the event’s impact. “The Welsh Music Prize continues to grow, with a fantastic line-up set to perform,” he said.<\/p>\n “It’s a vital springboard for emerging artists, and BBC coverage ensures their music reaches even bigger audiences. Llongyfarchiadau!”<\/p>\n Welsh Music Prize co-founder Huw Stephens added: “The Prize is all about celebrating the quality, artistry, and diversity of music from Wales. This year’s live line-up promises to be a true reflection of that, featuring both established and new artists across folk, indie, and rap genres.”<\/p>\n Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming event:<\/strong><\/p>\n When and where is the event?<\/p>\n The ceremony will be taking place on October, 6 at the Wales Millennium Centre.<\/p>\n Where can I watch?<\/p>\n The Welsh Music Prize ceremony is open to the public, with tickets priced at \u00a310 and \u00a38 for under 30s. Tickets are now available and can be purchased here<\/a>.<\/p>\n For those unable to attend, the event will be broadcast on BBC One Wales and on BBC iPlayer, with full live coverage on BBC Radio Cymru and BBC Radio Wales.<\/p>\n Who is performing? The official line up features the nation’s hottest acts, including:<\/p>\n In addition to the performances, the Triskel Award will be presented to emerging artists Nancy Williams, Morn, and SOURCE. Supported by the charity Help Musicians, the award provides guidance and resources to help new artists develop their careers.<\/p>\n Morn, from Monmouth, have gained attention for their raw, emotionally charged performances. While Nancy Williams, an 18-year-old singer-songwriter from Merthyr Tydfil, blends poetic lyricism with Celtic-infused melodies.<\/p>\n The third winner, SOURCE is a Cardiff-based collective that combines neo-soul and R&B harmonies to explore themes of spirituality and freedom.
