{"id":416126,"date":"2025-09-11T15:35:15","date_gmt":"2025-09-11T15:35:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/416126\/"},"modified":"2025-09-11T15:35:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T15:35:15","slug":"slovenia-slaps-entry-ban-on-pro-russian-bosnian-serb-leader","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/416126\/","title":{"rendered":"Slovenia slaps entry ban on pro-Russian Bosnian Serb leader"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LJUBLJANA, Slovenia (AP) \u2014 Slovenia on Thursday banned <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/bosnian-serbs-secession-threat-1072c96ce29c1f118a9b5a84bbd5ff9e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">separatist pro-Russian Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik<\/a> from entering the small European Union country.<\/p>\n<p>The Slovenian government\u2019s decision followed Dodik\u2019s refusal to step down from the position of the president of a Serb-run entity in Bosnia despite <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/bosnia-serb-milorad-dodik-prison-court-separatist-49d45f942b1823105915f990846764c9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a court ruling that removed him from office<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Dodik in August was formally ousted by Bosnia\u2019s electoral authorities after he was sentenced to a year in prison and banned from politics for six years. <\/p>\n<p>Dodik, who travelled to Russia this week, has repeatedly called for the separation of the Serb-run half of Bosnia to join Serbia, which has prompted <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/treasury-sanctions-bosnia-serbia-91349943da380297f302c45e8ec194af\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. sanctions against himself and his close associates<\/a> and family.
