<\/p>\n Prince Harry, who once shared a close relationship with his sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, is now on the outs with her after his royal exit. While Prince William is said to be less forgiving<\/a>, the Princess of Wales, however, was allegedly eager to mend ties<\/a> with Harry. A royal source revealed that she called him on his 40th birthday, hoping to restore \u2018peace\u2019 within the family.<\/p>\n Article continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p>\n As reported by Marie Claire,<\/a> an insider revealed, \u201cShe told William in no uncertain terms that this is not the time for resentment, they needed to show the world that love and family are front and center of their values, but more importantly she wanted Harry to have this message on his big day.\u201d On the Duke\u2019s big day last year on 15 September, the Prince and Princess of Wales took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, \u201cWishing a happy 40th birthday to The Duke of Sussex!\u201d This was the first time the Waleses acknowledged Harry\u2019s birthday publicly since 2021.<\/p>\n Article continues below advertisement<\/p>\n The source added that Middleton “was very much the driving force behind Harry\u2019s birthday wishes.” They further claimed, \u201cIt meant the world to Harry that the royals, as well as the Waleses, sent this olive branch on social media.\u201d While Middleton \u2018found it in her heart to forgive\u2019, William struggled to \u2018let the anger go.\u2019 The insider continued, \u201cShe doesn’t believe it’s right to just give up on Harry. She’s worried for him because she sees all the signs of how homesick and vulnerable he is.\u201d<\/p>\n Article continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Royal reporter Jennie Bond also claimed that Middleton “was influential in this slight softening of her husband’s implacable stand.” She told The Mirror, <\/a>\u201cPerhaps she has persuaded William that life is too short for grudges. Birthday wishes posted on the main royal family website are also a sign of a possible thaw in relations between Harry and his father.\u201d The expert noted that while the brothers may never be close again, it doesn\u2019t mean the future has to be full of bad blood. She added, \u201cBut this is only a tentative first step in a complex and sensitive situation. I still think the brothers\u2019 relationship is almost irretrievable.\u201d<\/p>\n Article continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Harry also alluded to the complex relationship<\/a> he has with his sister-in-law in his memoir, Spare. As reported by Hello! magazine<\/a>, the Duke revealed that Middleton once made his wife Meghan Markle cry, and influenced him to wear the infamous Nazi costume. Royal expert Katie Nicoll notes that Harry\u2019s cruel remarks about Middleton in Spare led to a complete breakdown of their relationship.
