{"id":416619,"date":"2025-09-11T20:01:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-11T20:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/416619\/"},"modified":"2025-09-11T20:01:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T20:01:14","slug":"free-keith-haring-pop-art-posters-to-be-given-away-at-charing-cross-tube-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/416619\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Keith Haring pop-art posters to be given away at Charing Cross tube station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Charing Cross tube station will be giving away free pop-art posters by the American artist, Keith Haring next week, as well as displaying two of his artworks in the UK for the first time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ABSOLUT-EOY25-Haring-Stillife-02.jpg\" class=\"lightbox\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-83949\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"780\" height=\"518\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ABSOLUT-EOY25-Haring-Stillife-02.jpg\"\/><\/a>(c) Absolut<\/p>\n<p>Haring was an artist who was probably best known for his \u201cdancing men\u201d motifs, and often worked on public artworks for community centres rather than the mainstream galleries.<\/p>\n<p>Not totally adverse to money, he also took on commercial commissions, and one in 1986 was to design two paintings for Absolut Vodka, which they used as decorations for their bottles.<\/p>\n<p>For two days next week, visitors getting off the escalators at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ianvisits.co.uk\/travel\/charing-cross-station\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charing Cross tube station<\/a> will be greeted in the ticket hall by the 1986 paintings, which are also the first time they will be displayed in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, visitors can also take away a free poster depicting one of Haring\u2019s displayed paintings, while stocks last.<\/p>\n<p>The artwork will be on display on Wed 17th and Thur 18th September, although the posters can be assumed to run out on the first morning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/8400e186.delivery.rocketcdn.me\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/ABSOLUT-EOY25-Haring-Stillife-10-fullframe-web.jpg\" class=\"lightbox\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-83950\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"605\" height=\"294\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ABSOLUT-EOY25-Haring-Stillife-10-fullframe-web-1024x498.jpg\"\/><\/a>(c) Absolut<\/p>\n<p>There will also be some additional roundels on display, showing the station as \u201cHarring Cross\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>(the usual station name roundels and signs aren\u2019t changing)<\/p>\n<p>Emma Strain, Customer Director at Transport for London (TfL), says: \u201cThe London Underground has a long-standing connection to the art world, so we\u2019re delighted to work with Absolut to be able to host Keith Haring\u2019s art at Charing Cross Tube station.
