{"id":416625,"date":"2025-09-11T20:04:24","date_gmt":"2025-09-11T20:04:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/416625\/"},"modified":"2025-09-11T20:04:24","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T20:04:24","slug":"london-underground-seeks-union-talks-in-bid-to-resolve-pay-dispute-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/416625\/","title":{"rendered":"London Underground seeks union talks in bid to resolve pay dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">London Underground has invited union leaders to talks next week in a bid to resolve a dispute over pay and hours which led to strikes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The company said it wanted to hold talks next Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Tube services are expected to return to normal by late morning on Friday after the strikes which have caused travel chaos all week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) walked out, leading to services been crippled since Monday with few underground trains running.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Commuters have switched to buses, bikes or trains not affected by the dispute to get to and from work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">London Underground said there will be no service before 8am on Friday, with normal service on all lines by late morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The Docklands Light Railway will be running a normal service after it was hit by a strike over a separate issue on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">An RMT source said: \u201cThis is a step in the right direction from TfL (Transport for London) and has only occurred due to the industrial pressure from RMT members this week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Commuters trying to get home on South Western Railway also suffered delays due to a tree blocking the railway between Clapham Junction and Earlsfield, which led to some lines towards Wimbledon being blocked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">SWR said it expected there may be cancellations, delays or alterations to services until 8pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">SWR services towards Putney were also blocked because of a fault on a train at Clapham Junction, with delays or alterations expected until 6pm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">TfL said there had been \u201cminimal\u201d Tube services on Thursday, with only selected services running with shortened hours, while DLR services were suspended all day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">As on previous days this week, more passengers used buses, London Overground or the Elizabeth line, while the number of cycles hired by mid-afternoon was 20,890, a 76% increase on last Thursday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"London Underground has invited union leaders to talks next week in a bid to resolve a dispute over&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":416626,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7757],"tags":[748,393,4884,257,594,142836,1264,142837,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-416625","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-london","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-london","12":"tag-london-underground","13":"tag-normal-service","14":"tag-tfl","15":"tag-transport-union","16":"tag-uk","17":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115187460658097408","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/416625","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=416625"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/416625\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/416626"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=416625"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=416625"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=416625"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
