However, the group said its leadership survived the assassination bid.<\/p>\n<p>Qatari Lance Corporal Badr Saad Mohammed al-Humaidi al-Dosari was also among the killed.<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of the Doha attack, US President Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/11\/trump-response-to-israels-qatar-attack-undermines-us-credibility-analysts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> he felt \u201cvery badly\u201d about the location of the attacks and later told reporters he was \u201cnot thrilled\u201d by Israel\u2019s actions.<\/p>\n<p>Former Israeli government adviser Daniel Levy says Israel\u2019s attack against a Hamas delegation in Qatar sends a message not just to the Palestinian group, but to the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEither get on board with our project of regional hegemony, which includes the displacement and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, or we dare you because we have America on our side and we are unassailable militarily,\u201d Levy said.<\/p>\n<p>Arab states express solidarity<\/p>\n<p>A slew of Arab and Muslim leaders descended on Doha since Israel\u2019s unprecedented attack, including United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who met the emir on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also arrived in the Qatari capital to express his country\u2019s show of support for the tiny Gulf nation. Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was expected in Doha on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The Qatari Emir also received a verbal message of solidarity from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Thursday, conveyed by his Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty during a meeting in Doha.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-arc-image-770 wp-image-3942127\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/2025-09-11T130936Z_1550384713_RC2OPGAHC4E0_RTRMADP_3_ISRAEL-PALESTINIANS-QATAR-FUNERAL-1757611088.jp.jpeg\" alt=\"Qatar funeral\" fetchpriority=\"low\"\/>People attend a funeral held for those killed by an Israeli attack in Doha at the Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque in Doha on September 11, 2025 [Screengrab: Qatar TV via Reuters]<\/p>\n<p>Egypt\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Abdelatty\u2019s visit was aimed at expressing the country\u2019s \u201cfull solidarity\u201d with Qatar and \u201cto discuss ways to deal with the dangerous Israeli escalation and coordinate positions\u201d with senior Qatari officials.<\/p>\n<p>Qatar will convene an emergency Arab-Islamic summit to discuss Israel\u2019s attack, according to the state news agency QNA, a possible hint of what shape a collective regional response would take.<\/p>\n<p>The summit will take place in Doha on Sunday and Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement came as the United Nations Security Council opened an emergency session on Thursday to discuss the attack, which was delayed a day to allow the Qatari prime minister to attend the meeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">All 15 members, including the US, condemned the strikes, though they did not specifically mention Israel in their statement, which called for \u201cde-escalation\u201d and expressed \u201csupport for the sovereignty and territorial integrity\u201d of Qatar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cCouncil members underscored that releasing the hostages, including those killed by Hamas, and ending the war and suffering in Gaza must remain our top priority,\u201d said the statement.<\/p>\n<p>Hamas condemns the attack<\/p>\n<p>Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum, in a televised statement on Thursday, said the Israeli attempt to assassinate Hamas\u2019s negotiating delegation in Doha and continued threats to target the movement\u2019s leadership abroad showed Israel\u2019s \u201cfailure to achieve its goals\u201d after 23 months of genocidal war on Gaza that has killed more than 64,000 Palestinians.<\/p>\n<p>In the Palestinian group\u2019s first address since Tuesday\u2019s attack, Barhoum said that the group will keep fighting despite the assassination attempt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Israeli attack cannot dent our resolve by targeting our leaders,\u201d the Hamas spokesperson said. \u201cThe crime did not target the negotiating delegation, but rather the entire negotiation process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The attack on Tuesday was the first such attack by Israel on Qatar, which has been a key mediator in ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas. Qatar\u2019s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani has dubbed Israel\u2019s targeting of Hamas leaders \u201cstate terrorism\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a response that will happen from the region. This response is currently under consultation and discussion with other partners in the region,\u201d he told US media outlet CNN on Wednesday, adding that \u201cthe entire Gulf region is at risk\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seemed undeterred, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2025\/9\/10\/netanyahu-vows-to-target-opponents-abroad-after-strike-in-qatar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">threatening further attacks on Qatar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI say to Qatar and all nations who harbour terrorists, you either expel them or you bring them to justice.
