{"id":417515,"date":"2025-09-12T04:12:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T04:12:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/417515\/"},"modified":"2025-09-12T04:12:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T04:12:11","slug":"healthcare-is-the-one-profession-growing-right-now-and-according-to-openai-ceo-sam-altman-it-may-be-the-only-one-immune-to-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/417515\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthcare is the one profession growing right now\u2014and according to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, it may be the only one immune to AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There may be some promising news for those pursuing to become doctors and nurses post-graduation: your fields aren\u2019t only the glue keeping the job market together, your career could be immune from AI disruption.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As the labor market slows and entry-level workers struggle to find a <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/08\/31\/gen-z-eyeing-secure-healthcare-jobs-ai-proof-careers-but-chiropractors-doctors-and-paramedics-are-the-unhappiest-workers-hospitality-happiest\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/08\/31\/gen-z-eyeing-secure-healthcare-jobs-ai-proof-careers-but-chiropractors-doctors-and-paramedics-are-the-unhappiest-workers-hospitality-happiest\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\" rel=\"noopener\">career that AI isn\u2019t actively replacing<\/a>, OpenAI\u2019s CEO Sam Altman, says that jobs in healthcare may be the only ones protected from automation.<\/p>\n<p>When asked which jobs may get wiped by new technologies, the AI company leader broke down his answer by which jobs he was the most and least hopeful about in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA job that I\u2019m confident will not be that impacted is nurses,\u201d he said in an interview on <a href=\"https:\/\/tuckercarlson.com\/tucker-show-sam-altman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/tuckercarlson.com\/tucker-show-sam-altman\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\">The Tucker Carlson Show<\/a>.\u00a0 <strong>\u201c<\/strong>I think people really want that deep human connection with a person in that time, no matter how good the advice of the AI is or the robot or whatever, like you\u2019ll really want that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the flip side, some white collar jobs won\u2019t be so lucky: \u201cI\u2019m confident that a lot of current customer support that happens over a phone or computer, those people will lose their jobs and that\u2019ll be better done by an AI,\u201d he said.<a href=\"https:\/\/tuckercarlson.com\/tucker-show-sam-altman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/tuckercarlson.com\/tucker-show-sam-altman\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\">\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As for jobs in programming, a field that\u2019s already faced changes thanks to the new tech, Altman noted that AI tools have made coders far more productive, but the long-term impact is still unclear.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s been huge demand for software. But if we fast forward five or 10 years, is it more jobs or less? That one I\u2019m uncertain on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Healthcare remains the bright side of the labor market\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As AI has driven up uncertainty in the graduate job market, recent Gen Z graduates have already taken note of the more secure <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/08\/25\/gen-zers-neets-jobless-men-unemployed-higher-rates-women-healthcare-coding-ai\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">healthcare<\/a> careers <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/08\/31\/gen-z-eyeing-secure-healthcare-jobs-ai-proof-careers-but-chiropractors-doctors-and-paramedics-are-the-unhappiest-workers-hospitality-happiest\/?queryly=related_article\" economy is predicted to add <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/ecopro.nr0.htm#xd_co_f=MjQ1YzJkOWItMzhjNi00ODU4LTgwMDItODFiZDA0OThhOWY3~\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/ecopro.nr0.htm#xd_co_f=MjQ1YzJkOWItMzhjNi00ODU4LTgwMDItODFiZDA0OThhOWY3~\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\">5.2 million jobs<\/a> over the next decade, with projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicating that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcknightsseniorliving.com\/news\/healthcare-job-growth-projected-to-outpace-other-sectors-over-next-decade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.mcknightsseniorliving.com\/news\/healthcare-job-growth-projected-to-outpace-other-sectors-over-next-decade\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\">healthcare and social assistance<\/a> will be the fastest-growing industry sector.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fueled by an aging population and rising demand for long-term care, senior care and disability services are specifically projected to grow 21%, adding over 528,000 jobs by 2034.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But even healthcare\u2019s resilience has its limits. <a href=\"https:\/\/share.google\/VwI28bLGCuBM5p5J5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/share.google\/VwI28bLGCuBM5p5J5\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\">In August 2025<\/a>, the sector added 31,000 jobs, below its 12-month average of 42,000. <a
