{"id":417839,"date":"2025-09-12T07:07:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-12T07:07:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/417839\/"},"modified":"2025-09-12T07:07:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-12T07:07:14","slug":"sath-nhs-trust-rated-in-the-bottom-quarter-in-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/417839\/","title":{"rendered":"SATH NHS trust rated in the bottom quarter in England"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.countytimes.co.uk\/news\/24410899.shrewsbury-telford-hospital-trust-issue-apology-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">SATH<\/a>, which covers the care at Shrewsbury Hospital, was rated as the 113th best NHS Trust out of 134 in the new league tables for NHS trusts in England.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Each NHS Trust was ranked within their category based on a \u201cscore\u201d that has been determined by averaging their performance against a range of targets, such as reducing waiting times for treatment and for being seen in A&amp;E departments, or improving ambulance response times.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n    Health Secretary, Wes Streeting said that the new tables could lead to \u201cfriendly rivalry\u201d between hospitals which will drive up standards.\n  <\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThe public pays for the NHS. They own it,\u201d said Mr Streeting.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cThey deserve to know how it\u2019s performing, and I believe fundamentally, in giving all patients information, choice and voice, not just the well off or well informed.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.countytimes.co.uk\/news\/24645103.rjah-welshpool-branch-marks-60-years-raises-124-000\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Trust<\/a> in Gobowen was rated as the 27th \u00a0was given a rating of 2.31 which rated it in the top quarter of all trusts in England.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Meanwhile, the Wye Valley NHS Trust which covers care in Herefordshire came 76th with a rating of 2.43.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  In non-acute trusts, the Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust, which runs the Community Hospitals in Bishop&#8217;s Castle, Ludlow, Bridgnorth, and Whitchurch, came in 17th in the list of 61 in England with a rating of 2.16.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Some have said the ratings are not a helpful guide, Danielle Jefferies, senior analyst at The King\u2019s Fund, warned that \u201ca single ranking cannot give the public a meaningful understanding of how good or bad a hospital is\u201d.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cWhether NHS trust league tables will be helpful to the public is questionable, because hospital performance is not as simple as good or bad,\u201d she said.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Under the plans by the DHSC, higher standards will also be set for leaders, with pay tied to performance.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Senior managers at trusts that are persistently ranked poorly could see their pay docked, while NHS leaders will have extra pay incentives to go into challenged trusts and turn them around.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  From next summer, the tables will be expanded to cover integrated care boards, which are responsible for planning health services at a local level, and wider areas of NHS performance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SATH, which covers the care at Shrewsbury Hospital, was rated as the 113th best NHS Trust out of&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":417840,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5008],"tags":[748,393,4884,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-417839","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-england","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-uk","12":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/417839","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=417839"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/417839\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/417840"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=417839"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=417839"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=417839"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
