Maeve Fanning was told ‘every mother’s worst nightmare’ in February – that she had stage four cancer and it was inoperable.<\/p>\n
When palliative chemotherapy stopped working and she began getting worse, the Kings Heath<\/a> mum was given just two years to live.<\/p>\n She and her husband Paddy began searching for different ways to fight the rare thymoma cancer and found a private treatment in London – but it costs \u00a311,000 a month.<\/p>\n BirminghamLive ran a story on Maeve’s GoFundMe appeal <\/a>last week and the couple have been thrilled by people’s generosity and kindness.<\/p>\n Read more: ‘I just want to see my children grow’ – mum fights for life after thinking she had indigestion<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n “It\u2019s just been phenomenal the amount of support I\u2019ve received from my community and the wider public,” said Maeve, who is mum to Oonagh, aged eight, Cormac, four, and Ciaran, one.<\/p>\n “I\u2019ve had so many lovely messages which has given me such a boost.<\/p>\n “Every donation, no matter how big or small, means so much to me and all helps towards the bigger goal.<\/p>\n “It has meant so much to me and my family, more than words can express.”<\/p>\n More than \u00a352,000 has been raised so far but she still needs more. Please donate to Maeve’s GoFundMe page here<\/a> to help her raise the \u00a3100,000 she needs.<\/strong><\/p>\n She added: “Thanks to all of you, I have now reached over the halfway mark. An incredible amount in just over a week.”I have now completed four weeks of treatment in London and although it is too early to know what difference it is making, I have high hopes.”I am also exploring potential treatment options in Germany so please know that every single penny donated counts and it is so touching to think that so many people care – people in my life now, people from years gone by and strangers.
