Faced with the prospect of having consent for the \u00a3250m project lapse, the landowner has this week made a start on site to secure the permission ahead of a decision on whether a future edition of the golf tournament will be awarded to Bolton.<\/p>\n
Peel Land has commenced limited works on part of the proposed Ryder Cup-standard golf course\u2019s ceremonial driveway to lock in the planning permission \u2013 granted by Bolton Council in 2022 \u2013 before it expires in October.<\/p>\n
Under the terms of the permission, Peel must make a start on site within three years. The landowner was given permission in January to do this and work has now begun with weeks to spare.<\/p>\n
Aside from the work taking place to lawfully implement the planning permission, no other elements can be delivered until a decision on the Ryder Cup is made. This might not happen until 2027.<\/p>\n
As well as the golf course, Peel\u2019s Hulton Park project features proposals for 1,000 homes.<\/p>\n
A Peel Land spokesperson said: \u201cThe limited physical works commenced today [Thursday 11 September] reflect these approved by the council\u2019s planning committee in January.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are another important step in securing permission for a project that will ultimately secure the future of Hulton Park and its rich heritage, enhance Bolton as a sporting and cultural destination, and drive long-term economic growth.<\/p>\n
