After exiting the European Union, the UK lost preferential trade terms with one of its largest trading blocs<\/p>\n

Britain minister Nick Thomas-Symonds has reiterated that the country will not be rejoining the European Union and instead the focus will be on \u201cresetting the relationship”.<\/p>\n

On the question of whether Brexit will be reversed, Thomas-Symonds told the Guardian\u2019s Politics Weekly podcast: \u201cI can\u2019t. What I can say is that the work I have been doing with the democratic mandate from the 2024 general election is building a closer, more constructive relationship.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I\u2019m about now, having reset the relationship, is building this new strategic partnership,” the Minister for the Cabinet Office (Minister for the Constitution and European Union Relations) said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve pledged not to rejoin the single market or the customs union or go back to freedom of movement and that remains,” he added.<\/p>\n

The UK left the EU on January 31, 2020, after 47 years since joining the organisation. After exiting the European Union, the UK lost preferential trade terms with one of its largest trading blocs<\/p>\n
