It happened on Monday in the St Mellons area of the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">This latest incident comes after an 80-year-old man from Riverside had \u00a316,000 allegedly stolen from his home last week. Police said the man received a call convincing him he was speaking to police officers before telling him to withdraw \u00a316,000 in cash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Police explained that someone then allegedly arrived at the house and snatched it from his hands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Nawaf Abdullahi, from Islington in London, has been charged in connection with both incidents. For the biggest stories in Wales first, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/newsletter-preference-centre\/?view=Solus&amp;mailingListId=aa0abd38-0db5-4492-99f3-e73baecff682&amp;utm_source=solusarticle\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">sign up to our daily newsletter<\/a> here.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Abdullahi appeared at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/cardiff\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Cardiff<\/a> Magistrates&#8217; Court on Thursday, September 11, charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation and participating in the criminal activities of an organised crime group.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The 20-year-old was remanded in custody for a further hearing at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/cardiff-crown-court\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Cardiff Crown Court<\/a> next month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Detective Superintendent Tom Moore, from <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/south-wales-police\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">South Wales Police<\/a>, said: &#8220;This investigation highlights our commitment to protecting the vulnerable from fraud.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">&#8220;As always we urge people to remain vigilant, to look out for vulnerable relatives and report incidents to police.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">South Wales Police have also reiterated their message that genuine police will never send a courier to your home to collect cash, bank cards, or any other valuable goods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Police will also never ask you to participate in an investigation that requires you to withdraw money from your bank.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">You can contact South Wales Police by calling 101, by sending them a message on their social media channels, or via their website.
