It follows police forces in England <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/wales-news\/new-ai-speed-cameras-looking-31286938\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">trialling AI-powered cameras<\/a> that can tell if drivers are using a mobile phone, or are wearing seat belts while behind the wheel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The new AI powered road signs to slow down motorcyclists are being trialled in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/swansea\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Swansea<\/a> and it isn&#8217;t the first time that the council has enlisted the help of smart technologies to improved public services. Just in August 2025, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/wales-news\/bins-welsh-city-connected-wifi-32203110\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the local authority trialled new internet-connected bins<\/a> in rural areas to help save time and resources.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Meanwhile, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/all-about\/south-wales-police\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">South Wales Police<\/a> has been investing significantly on facial recognition as well, spending over<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.walesonline.co.uk\/news\/wales-news\/welsh-police-force-spends-35m-32329655\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> \u00a33.5m on the initiative<\/a> which has resulted in 93 arrests since its introduction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The new technology to slow down speeding motorists will use AI cameras and thermal imaging technology capable of telling motorbikes apart from other modes of traffic on the road.
