The UK is set to be lashed with wind gusts<\/a> of up to 55mph.<\/p>\n A yellow warning for wind<\/a> has been issued for most of England<\/a> and Wales<\/a> from 8pm on Sunday to 6pm on Monday.<\/p>\n The Met Office<\/a> has warned of transport delays<\/a> and some short-term power cuts in certain areas.<\/p>\n Large waves and spray are likely to hit seafronts and coastal communities, where gusts could be as strong as 70mph.<\/p>\n Met Office spokesperson Graham Madge said: \u2018There is no intention to name it, as of now.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a><\/strong> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> <\/strong>alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n \u2018Obviously, we are in meteorological autumn now, it\u2019s the sort of\u00a0weather<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0that we do expect at this time of year.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t \u2018So it\u2019s nothing unusual, particularly \u2013 perhaps it\u2019s just the contrast with the\u00a0weather\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>that we have enjoyed over most of the summer<\/a>.\u2019<\/p>\n The strong gales should begin to ease off on Monday evening, with calmer conditions expected from Tuesday.<\/p>\n Another weather front could bring more wind to coastal areas by Wednesday, however.<\/p>\n But Madge added that it was still too early to say what impact this system will have, although it is likely to bring stronger gusts than the country will experience on Sunday evening and Monday.<\/p>\n Drivers have been warned to take care around coastal areas and consider delaying journeys on Monday.<\/p>\n Rod Dennis, a spokesperson for the RAC, said: \u2018Drivers are really going to feel the effects of the early autumnal\u00a0weather\u00a0this weekend.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018This will particularly be the case later on Sunday and into the new working week \u2013 strong gusty winds will make driving conditions challenging across a large swathe of southern and western Britain.<\/p>\n \u2018The wind will be particularly noticeable on more exposed roads, like those over the moors in Devon<\/a> and Cornwall<\/a>, so drivers may like to delay their journeys or seek other routes.<\/p>\n \u2018We urge anyone setting out to reduce their speeds while driving and pass high-sided vehicles with particular care.\u2019<\/p>\n Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@metro.co.uk<\/a>.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n For more stories like this, <\/strong>check our news page<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Arrow Arrow Arrow![\"METRO](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/SEI_265713787-5b15.jpg\")
