Racing is a game of swings and roundabouts and Queensland trainer Jason Edwards<\/a> had some good karma at Doomben on Saturday, only weeks after his star horse Alpha Sofie<\/a> exited his stable.<\/p>\n

Deagon trainer Edwards was all class in the way he handled losing exciting filly Alpha Sofie to Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman<\/a> in Victoria.<\/p>\n

He watched on last Saturday when Alpha Sofie, part-owned by Tosh Murphy, blitzed her rivals in her first Victorian start for Moody and firmed to be the third betting pick for the Group 1 Thousand Guineas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So it was a nice moment at Doomben on Saturday when maiden mare Margot\u2019s Deel<\/a>, owned by Murphy and wearing the same colours as Alpha Sofie, scored as a $7.50 chance.<\/p>\n

There are no sour grapes at losing Alpha Sofie, easily the best young horse Edwards has ever trained. <\/p>\n

He revealed he watched her Moonee Valley demolition job from home with his kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is nice to win a race in these colours,\u201d Edwards said, after Margot\u2019s Deel won at Doomben.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast Saturday, I made my kids sit around the TV to watch Alpha Sofie with me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted her to do well, Tosh has got other horses for me including this one that won today at Doomben.<\/p>\n

\u201cTosh\u2019s success is my success, there will be more horses to flow.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was very happy for him with Alpha Sofie, there\u2019s going to be plenty more wins for her ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

HEALTH REPORT SAGA FALLOUT CONTINUES<\/b><\/p>\n

Queensland jockey Luke Tarrant<\/a> has been stood down from riding by stewards as part of the falsified health assessment form saga.<\/p>\n

It comes after fellow jockey Taylor Marshall was disqualified by eight months by stewards<\/a> for submitting a \u201cfraudulent health assessment results form for the 2024\/25 season by altering the date on the health assessment results form completed by his general practitioner from 2023\/24\u201d.<\/p>\n

Other jockeys are in the firing line for doctoring health reports, with stewards having opened an inquiry in regards to Tarrant.<\/p>\n

It is understood Tarrant, who has now been stood down, has allegedly failed to provide evidence or answer a show cause notice. <\/p>\n

Tarrant has had plenty of ups and downs in a rollercoaster career in the saddle, with his finest moment coming when he won the 2015 Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Le Chef.<\/p>\n

There are other jockeys who are facing stewards\u2019 scrutiny in regard to the saga, including a pair of apprentice hoops.<\/p>\n

QLD SCRATCHINGS <\/b><\/p>\n

A pair of Queensland horses meant to race at Flemington on Saturday were scratched with vet issues and will be kept for another day.<\/p>\n

Chris and Corey Munce\u2019s<\/a> exciting three-year-old filly Vein Girl<\/a>, who won the rich Debut race on the Gold Coast last December before finishing fifth in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, did not take her place in the Listed Cap D\u2019Antibes Stakes.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe had a temperature spike late in the week and we weren\u2019t 100 per cent happy with her,\u201d Chris Munce said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s much brighter today, so we will have to see what transpires during the week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tony Gollan\u2019s<\/a> galloper Freedom Rally<\/a> also came out of the Listed Tontonan Stakes, the race where Gollan\u2019s gelding Transatlantic finished a narrow runner-up.<\/p>\n

\u201cFreedom Rally had a small viral issue with his blood,\u201d Gollan reported.<\/p>\n
