German star Marcel Siem realised a mistake had been made and took to social media to explain the situation<\/p>\n

Marcel Siem has made it crystal he did not cheat at the BMW PGA Championship after being disqualified at Wentworth.<\/p>\n

The German took to his social media to give a detailed explanation after he was ruled out of the Rolex Series event.<\/p>\n

Siem\u2019s issue came at the conclusion of his opening round when he smacked an off-line tee-shot at the par -five 18th hole.<\/p>\n

The colourful star subsequently played a provisional ball thinking his first wayward effort had sailed out of bounds.<\/p>\n

Siem\u2019s first ball had, in fact, landed in a hazard and was found by a spectator, but he continued to incorrectly play his second ball.<\/p>\n

The 45-year-old made a bogey six in the end, but the mistake was quickly realised and officials acted to make their decision after his lapse in concentration.<\/p>\n

Siem used his social media to explain: \u201cI just wanted to give you a quick insight into what happened. I just wanted to let you know I didn\u2019t cheat. I would never do that, so I got disqualified, unfortunately. On 18, I pushed my driver to the right, hit a provisional thinking it\u2019s out of bounds on the right. Never knew that it\u2019s water hazard on the right. Anyways, found my provisional.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was just about to hit my provisional, so my fourth shot, so to say. And one of the spectators found my ball, my first one. I walked in there, like tired of the whole day already, and the ball was underneath the branch, couldn\u2019t chip it out. I said, okay, this is unplayable. Picked the ball up and then just stupidly hit my fourth shot. Just kept going, made birdie with my second ball, so to say, and made a bogey. Then we went into the scoring area, I was just about to sign my card and I just realised something is off here. Guys, I don’t think I made a six. Lets call a referee.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said: Dude [to the referee], I think I made a mistake here, right? I\u2019m supposed to go back to the 18th tee box and play my third shot, right? Because it\u2019s water hazard and, if I declared as unplayable, I have to go back and I cannot hit my provisional ball. “<\/p>\n

The setback came as another stroke of bad luck to the German star after he was forced to pull out of the Amgen Irish Open last weekend at the K Club due to injury issues. He added: It’s been a strange two weeks. Very upsetting.”<\/p>\n
