{"id":420733,"date":"2025-09-13T09:24:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-13T09:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/420733\/"},"modified":"2025-09-13T09:24:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T09:24:14","slug":"a-potential-innovative-design-path","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/420733\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;A potential innovative design path&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" width=\"1920\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/negative-triangularityimage-recw6lPF1pHgXaNhU.jpg\" class=\"wp-post-image featured-image\" alt=\"The community has been \u201csurprised\u201d by the outcome of these experiments.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Photo Credit: DIII-D National Fusion Facility\n<\/p>\n<p>Experiments at San Diego&#8217;s DIII-D National Fusion Facility have demonstrated that a new plasma configuration could help increase the stability of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecooldown.com\/green-tech\/fusion-power-plant-commercial-us-mit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tokamak fusion reactors<\/a> and inform future designs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nuclear fusion holds the promise of virtually limitless energy with a low-carbon impact, and new discoveries are helping to speed its development from theoretical to real-world applications.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/interestingengineering.com\/energy\/us-inverted-d-plasma-fusion-breakthrough\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> by Interesting Engineering shared that a plasma configuration known as &#8220;negative triangularity&#8221; has shown that it can meet the high-performance conditions needed for a sustained fusion reaction, while also addressing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecooldown.com\/green-tech\/marvel-project-coolant-system-nuclear-reactors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heat-management challenges<\/a> inside the reactor.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In fusion reactions, atoms are fused together to produce energy similar to the natural process that occurs inside the sun.
