\n Surjit Singh, aged 39, told a relative that he had attacked Mohinder Kaur, aged 76, at the family home on Clarence Road, Soho.\n<\/p>\n
\n She phoned 999 after speaking to Singh at around 1pm on September 29 last year.\n<\/p>\n
\n Minutes later, officers forced their way into her property and found her lying on the living room floor.\n<\/p>\n
\n Mohinder, in her 70s, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital but was sadly pronounced dead just before 11.30pm.\n<\/p>\n
\n Singh had returned to the scene of the attack at around 3pm and was arrested by officers, who were still at the house.\n<\/p>\n
\n While in custody, he said: “I didn\u2019t mean to do it. I just lost my head.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Mohinder died as a result of injuries consistent with a number of blows, but it was not clear if a weapon was used or what the motive was.\n<\/p>\n
\n Singh went on to plead guilty to murder and was jailed on Friday (September 12) at Birmingham Crown Court.\n<\/p>\n
